You could use that logic to argue that the Earth is now flat...

What happened to the bench? 13 points just won't cut it.

Was going to watch but an old friend wanted to meet up so went for drinks instead.....Thank Goodness!

Speed watched on DVR....what TURRBLE defense and just a repeat of so much of what we've all seen for several years now. It's depressing to see the team you cheer so hard for have so many of the same issues over and over and over again.

Same thing that happened to the defense: missing in action.

You need to calm down a little bit.
My post said nothing that Aldridge played for Portland.
Maybe you should stop posting with emotion and you'd see that.
But go ahead and call it post of the year, I'll talk basketball without assumptions.

Aldridge would be playing the 5 in Portland instead of Nurk in games like tonight.
If you'd ask him to play the 4 and guard a player like Gay he'd get destroyed as his perimeter defense isn't going to help.
Nurk wasn't an issue defensively tonight. As he wasn't often involved in the P&R with DeRozan. Spurs ran small to small P&R trying to get Lillard or CJ matched up with DeRozan. Or iso'd or direct post ups.(Due to Portland inexplicably having CJ matched up 1 on 1 with DeRozan instead of Harkless or Aminu)

My post clearly showed Portland DID NOT STRUGGLE OFFENSIVELY. They put up 118 points, shot 52% from the field, and 12-29 from three(41%)
My post also showed the Spurs shot lights out on the perimeter. As the Spurs put up 131 points shot 60% from the field and 11-15 from three(73%)
Again these are all things Aldridge isn't really going to have an impact with. Portland didn't struggle offensively, yet they struggled defensively on the perimeter. Defending small to small p&r, derozan iso/direct post up.

Normally you're a pretty decent poster, but this whole thing has been pretty off by you.
Aldridge wouldn't have helped Portland tonight at the 4. Nor would he have helped them at the 5 as Nurk was solid tonight on that end.
At best Aldridge instead of Nurk would've had the exact same defensive impact on the game.

They only decent point you made is the 19-2 runs the Spurs went on."
But at the end of the day despite those runs. Portland still scored 118 points, shot 52% from the field and 40% from three.
Defense lost this game, NOT OFFENSE.

Well real problem is our guards are weak on defense am not exclude any of them. Then you got only 1 guard that try to make other better and that's Dame. CJ does not make others around him better. Curry is a shooter kind like Bazz was last year and Nik occasionally make a good pass here and there and shoots the 3 decent but his defense non existent though. I like see some shake up in that 2nd unit by Trent taking one of the guard position. Simons might be pretty close at offense end but not the defense end. Then you got Layman went from starter to DNP. They should try in that 2nd unit Trent ET Layman Zach Meyers this is big unit the only question would be can Trent guard the point guard.

Yeah, Trent can probably play the 2/3 spots for now.

Blazers now 2.5 games out of 1st.....and 2.5 games out of the #14 spot in the conference. If that isn't NBA purgatory, I don't know what is.

Well not really. I agree Lillard will probably sign again here but you have to admit staying with the same team your entire career is very rare nowadays. I would suspect one more contract and if not in a good spot at the end he goes elsewhere.

Sigh, I should've just been rude and called your reading comprehension into question.

Just let this season end. There’s no doubt we’ll finally go a whole new direction.

Look you can call it wrong all you want. I don't really care. What i do know is that Derozan scored 36 got 8 rebounds with 6 assists. He essentially matched what Dame put out tonight. The Blazers had absolutely no response for that 6'-11" dude that shot 11-15 and 7-8 from the line who scored 29 points. Whenever the Blazers started to make any kind of run the Spurs went to Aldridge to shut them down and make a shot. This is what he used to do for the Blazers as well. Now if you want to get all lines X's and O's and talk about Perimeter influx and Pick n Roll response and transitional defenses with rotations then fine. But the fact remains the Blazers had two 5 minute stretches in the game when they could not score. Once in the 2nd quarter and again in the 4th. These were at crucial times when they were making a run. The Spurs pulled out the most dominant player on the court and stepped up. Sure Dame and Derozan scored more points but Aldridge shut the Blazers down and scored when they needed him to. The result was a win for the Spurs. Game over. The Blazers could have used a player like that tonight.

Damn without that Orlando win what would this have been 7 losses in a row ?

I wish we lost that game at this point. Stotts could have been fired by now
