You've voted for several. Swifts, Hops, Meadowlarks... Make up your mind, dude!

I do really like "Oregon Ospreys". It is a bird of prey that is known well in Oregon. It encompasses the entire state as i feel the team should. But in my mind i know there is just no way they will go with that name. Simply because it isn't "Portland"enough.

Swifts is my main one. Hops is awesome, but I see too many issues with the Hillsboro team. Meadowlarks I was just spitballing.

    See what I did there?

To me it's high schoolish. If it works fine, but that shouldn't be a consideration, IMO.

    MLB has 4
    NFL has 4
    NBA has 5
    NHL has 4

Well that is a problem when calling the team Oregon too.

Well, Seattle got an NHL team.

Time for us to get another pro team!

How many Ospreys inhabit Portland? not many.

Sweet - I now have another team that I'm interested in following.
Unfortunate timing as I expect my interest in the Blazers will likely remain at an all-time low until 2020, before ramping up again.

Hoping, IF we get a team, it’s a better name than something like “Pioneers” or something else lame...

It's lame that Seattle got another fucking team and we're sitting here with just the Blazers and Timbers.

There are a few Osprey around the Selleood bridge as well as a couple of Eagles. The Willamette has a few good areas. The most notable area close to Portland though is out on the Columbia on Government Island. Also there are a bunch around Rooster Rock and Multnomah Falls area.

I think the opposite usually. Happy Seattle gets theirs because Portland grows when Seattle grows.

Disagree. The proximity between the two cities and the stigma against the NW usually means that people think that Portland doesn't NEED a team because we have Seattle.

    Case in point - NFL

But nobody thinks the flipside, which is that Seattle wouldn't need an NBA team because of the Blazers.

Seattle is a big city, Portland is a big town. Oregon has never been real magnetic to as many business and corporations. Boeing put Seattle on the map for sure.
Washington has way more population too.
WE were never as pro active as Seattle, we could have been with the Delta dome or the Tribe financed stadium in Portland!

There's a lot to compete against up there, and the proximity to the Canucks.

We have one mainstream pro team. The Timbers really don't count in the grand scheme of things. And while people might still consider Portland "a big town," we're bigger than a lot of cities that have multiple pro teams.

Actually, I think the Timbers count very much so.
Their success has been important in some gaining interest in MLB here in town.

It's still basically a minor league compared to Europe and South America. It's not on the same level as the MLB/NBA/NFL/NHL.
