Okay, here is my solution to make us slightly better now and hopefully starting next year building a better team. This idea does not include trading CJ but that is mainly because I didn't want to get too crazy with it. I'm fine with dealing him IF a good trade presents itself but for this post it's going to just assume he's not being dealt.

Trade #1 (Must wait until December 15th): Harkless, Baldwin, and a 2020 2nd round pick for Trevor Ariza as mentioned today by Bleacher Report.

Trade #2: Evan Turner for JR Smith.

Trade #3: Leonard, Swanigan, and a 2019 1st round pick (or Trent if they'd prefer him) for Robin Lopez and Bobby Portis (using the Vonleh TPE)

I don't like giving up 1st round picks but in this case we get rid of all 3 of our bad contracts in one swoop so I think it would be worth it. Like I mentioned though I'd be okay with giving up Trent instead of the pick if the Bulls prefer. So what does that do to our roster for this year?

Starters: Dame, CJ, Ariza, Aminu, Nurk

Bench: Curry, Stauskas, Smith (or we could buy him out), Portis (or start Portis and move Aminu here), Collins

Deep Bench: Simons, Trent, Layman, RoLo, Open Roster Spot

Now to the main reasons for the trade. After cutting Smith in the off season the Blazers cut $39,567,465 off their salary this coming summer. This brings their current guaranteed contracts from $125,694,465 down to just $86,127,000. Now I am not doing this because I think they can attract a big time free agent but if they are going to struggle I don't see any downside to getting the finances in much better shape. I heard some crazy number the other day that it's possible that 49% of the league could be free agents this summer. Not only is that crazy but it will leave a lot of players available for bargain rates.

The cap next summer is expected to be $109 million. We'd only have 6 players on our roster: Dame, CJ, Nurk, Collins, Simons, and Trent. Both Portis and Layman would be RFAs. Aminu and RoLo would be UFAs but we'd have Full Bird Rights on them. Smith, Ariza, Stauskas, and Curry (unless he took his player option) would all be UFAs with no Bird Rights. So if we re-signed Portis to a reasonable deal we'd still have some space to work with or could stay over the cap and use the Full-MLE and BAE to fill out the roster.

I know it's not super flashy but it's a way to reset the roster around the core without going too crazy. Like I mentioned trading CJ would still be on the table too.

All of those deals are reasonable. I'm on board.

CJ to the Knicks for Ntilikina and Hardaway Jr would be my offer. They can dream of having a Unicorn, CJ and Durant lineup next season.

How about a package centered around CJ for Beal?? Would give us a little more size and shake things up...

Kemba Walker would be great next to Dame...so would Bradley Beal or Klay Thompson or Tobias Harris...when CJ is in the trade rumor, you have to get an impact player who can fill the bucket and play some D

I wouldn't do the trade you proposed to include Zach and Aminu....Turner could be included but I wouldn't want to lose Chief at his price or Zach on his rookie deal for two expensive pieces...ET is the salary I'd like to move as well as Meyers..I doubt I'll follow every post in this thread though ..just wanted to inject my 2 cents...if I've repeated ideas in the thread ...my bad.

No worries. I was trying to provide a deal that would be attractive to the Wiz. In my mind, in that deal we're upgrading in multiple spots, which is why I wasn't trying to be too selfish.

If the Spurs blow it up, would we want Demar and/or Aldridge?

CJ + Collins + fillers + picks for Demar and Aldridge is something I'd seriously consider. Go all in.

    A combo of Dame/Demar/Aldridge/Nurk is a legit big 4.

Would be very tempting. Besides the fact that I cant stand LaMarginal, it would be a very talented foursome.

Here's a slight variation with Boston.

    Derozan/Jaylen Brown to POR
    CJ/Collins/Marcus Smart to SAS
    Aldridge to BOS

Picks can switch hands but I think that gets everyone what they want.

I think Aldridge sadly is exactly what this team needs.

I still don't get why if SA is starting over why they'd want CJ or Smart (who can't be traded until January 15th). If the Celtics wanted Aldridge I think SA would probably just deal with them directly.

I don't think Neil would ever balls up and make this big of a trade.
