Just out of curiosity, where do folks see Collins in the long-term? Is he a center, a PF, or interchangable?

My gut is that he bulks up with age, maybe sacrifices some quickness, and becomes strictly a center. :dunno:

I think he will never look bulky do to his frame but do see him be wiry strong though. I believe he will be able to play both. I also think he needs to get him shooting coach in the off season like Leonard did. I believe he can shoot at 3 levels but he needs to be consent though at though levels.

That's a good one but I'm not sure CJ would fit their rebuild with a small rookie PG already.

    Ingram and KCP?
    Bridges and Anderson? (No.)
McGruder and Johnson? (Probably too much for CJ)
Musa and Carroll (and bring Ed Davis back)?
    Hutchison and Jabari?

Or Collins just isn't as good some of us think (hope) and maybe we need to stop making excuses for him.

Even the flashes are few and far between.

When he ran the offense through Plumlee in the high post during those 4-5 Playoff games. That was the last time he did any actual coaching.

Maybe, but it's ENTIRELY too early to give up on him. One and a half seasons - under a shit coach like Stotts - does not write the book on who a player is.

Butbutbut...Aminu is the best defender to ever play the game!

Small sample size, but check out the most productive lineup involving Collins. Includes Nurk. And if Terry would just consistently trust them as facilitators, the assists would go up as well.

    Lol funny you mention that.

According to DBPM, Portland’s best defenders, in order:

    1. Nurkic
    2. Harkless
    3. Turner
    4. Collins
    5. Aminu

Interestingly, the moment Aminu enters the equation the point differential turns negative...

Matches the eye test. Vonleh is also better...

I just don’t know why Aminu plays over Collins. What does he do that Collins can’t? Better yet, why can’t he play small forward? He’s also a free agent after the season. Shouldn’t it be a bigger priority to develop the lottery pick?

Vonleh would’ve been the perfect compliment to Collins and Nurkic. He got fucked the minute Swanigan was drafted. He was playing well when Aminu was hurt. He also played well with Nurkic. All he needed were minutes. Still pisses me off.

Whenever I see stats like this, I always wonder, is it more that he plays better when he plays more, or just that he is given more minutes when he is playing well. I generally assume it's the latter.
