My favorite is Brown Eyed Girl. I was in the Army in basic training when that came out. A shitty experience but it was popular songs like that that got me thru.
Otis Redding's (Sittin' On) The Dock of the Bay helped get me through Vietnam.

Hard to beat a Van Morrison song. Hard to believe he started off in a group named Them with a big hit of G-L-O-R-I-A. It sounds very much like an Eric Burdon and the Animals song from that time which I was a huge fan of with a bit of early Stones work.

    Eric Burdon

That's a great Van Morrison song. That carried me through my electronics schooling in the Army back in New Jersey.

However, the best Burdon song clearly was -

    also very good was -

Hector Lavoe and Willie Colon on the album Crime pays...track El Malo..
One of the most important breakthrough albums in 1971 that introduced much of NewYorican NYC to America's version of Salsa music...this band is my favorite because they used only trombones in the horn section ..Band leader and trombonist Willie Colon couldn't even speak Spanish..great recording ..Hector is one of the great vocalists from back in the day..

I could name that tune in four notes.

Edit: spelling correction, actually, a typo.

Good stuff. I remember that movie that came out about Lavoe. Can't remember the name of it. It had salsa singer Marc Anthony in the lead role. I wish I had gotten latin dance music like Son Cuban and Salsa, but I guess you could say my plate was full. One Brazilian form of music I really liked is Tropicalia. Probably because it wasn't just a form of politician protest, but combining it with Western style pop music (and a lot of acid!) I wasn't surprised when I found out it was a huge with 90's artists like Beck. The simplicity of a band like Os Mutantes sounds like something that would have been popular today.

Tell the truth, you were taking acid when you picked this one. Go ahead, confess. You're among friends.

Nope. But it is an homage to the 1960s. Good song, fun video.
