I’d bet money it’s in writing that whoever buys (if the team is even sold) the Blazers must keep them in Portland. Allen didn’t fight to keep the team in Portland only to see some schmuck move them. And no, money does not talk. Not with Allen.
We have got to take losses without harmful emotions and accept that NBA millionaires forget the loss before the tip off prior to the next game. At least, we still have a winning record
Contract lawyers use the term "specific performance." Break a contract, and there are 2 possible remedies: money damages or force the defendant to honor the contract (specific performance). Courts *hate* specific performance. Judges will stand on their heads to come up with a reason to order financial penalties rather than actually enforcing the letter of the contract. That contract you refer to will cost the buyer a big chunk of change if he wants to move - but the odds are it won't prevent the move. (for the record, even though I haven't practiced for a number of years, I was an attorney - so I am not just pulling this out of my arse!) The best hope for fans wanting to keep the team, is if Vulcan stands firm and insists on selling the team and the Moda as a package deal. If they are convinced to sell the team separately....bad sign!
I just get a feeling that with Paul gone, both Stotts and Olshey might welcome the idea of new job security in a larger market. Whatever is going on, it's visible that the team is just not sharp since the first dozen games with a few exceptions. I try to enjoy the team qtr by qtr now because they seem to be able to win about 1 qtr a game these days. Through the ups and downs I'll still always be a Blazer fan. Last game just put everyone in a Blazer coma. The Jazz are just a level ahead of us in most aspects of the game. Good news is I could see us beating the Warriors.
Well said. I feel like even the most optimistic posters (except Kingspeed) are realizing the issues surrounding this team and how were not built to succeed as is. Hopefully Jody can see that too, but I dont have my hopes up.
If she wants to own it, she'd care. If she wants to sell it, itd affect the attractability of the franchise on the market, so she'd care.
Im not saying he is, but if Neil and Stotts are checked out, what would keep Dame from re-evaluating his situation? I hope he isn't there just seems to be the opinion of many the team is a sinking ship at this point, If I was Dame, I would think I'm more plugged into Stotts and Neil than the fans are and if he since the same despair why would he want to recommit here fro the long haul?
I know he has stated that he like the situation and wants it be committed, but wouldn't he need confidence in both Neil & Stotts, otherwise what is it that he likes about the situation?
I'm now officially siding with The @HCP on the overabundance of truly idiotic, or repetitive, thread topics. @kjironman1 deserves an award for the Meltdown thread, because it is a catchall. Nice and tidy. I propose a catchall Garbage thread for every thread ********* starts. This is the one bad apple adage on display...
It's really one of the very few threads i have made. Started as a joke really. But then it just seemed to fit the bill.
For a while i was giving free "Likes" to everyone who commented but that was a bit whorish. I felt like a piece of meat that people just kicked to the curb after they got their Like! Hmmmm. Maybe i should start that again?????
