Of course they did. Why not just deport Bill Gates and his money to Honduras?

Korea used to do that but now they don't. It's amazing how life can change with a little money.

Why not just get the government back to work without spending the $5B?

The $5 Billion is merely a down payment since a total wall would cost around $30 Billion. I've also heard that Trump hasn't even spent the $1.3 Billion he was allotted in the last budget.

So you're saying Mexico to build a wall to keep us out?

But golly I've got it....we just need to move the Panama Canal to the Mexican border..dig a canal...if there's a river involved that's a game changer! A giant moat we can fill with submarines

This may be the way out. Congress agrees to allocate the money; Trump agrees not to spend it.

Wouldn't it be simpler to move our southern border down to the existing canal?

When the wall and open borders are raised together, the debate has jumped the rails.

Trump isn't asking for $30Billion to increase border security, he is demanding the money to build a symbolic monument that can't pass any sensible cost/benefit analysis. You could be a staunch conservative isolationist and still object to wasting public funds on a wall.

I believe there are places along the border were we need to build a wall, and sections with walls that need to be improved. But.

This is a huge problem that is going to take more than a few miles of walls to fix.

What bothers me is the all or nothing position, from both sides.

If the dems do not want a wall, what is THEIR plan to fix the problem? All I have heard is their arrogant stance they will oppose anything Trump wants.

This blanket tunnel vision by the left is not going to play well with the moderate voters next election. Give us a better plan, or shut up.

We have heard this shit for 30 plus years now. Boarder security never comes. Dems always have a reason, even when it is opposite the previous position.

Shut er down, and leave it down until Nancy pukes and her replacement capitulates. This is what Trump was elected to do.
    Build the god damn wall.

Is the wall going to stop a terrorist from entering the country? Will it stop drug cartels? Illegal weapons? Human trafficers?

$30 billion to do what exactly? How is this THE #1 priority of the US government? Sounds like you're the one talking shit.

And when Mexico agrees to pay for it then he can have his "boarder" waall. Money is in the bill for boarder security.

This is why we can't have nice threads about our border.
