Next up is the Indiana Pacers. Having Oladipo already, they probably wouldn't want CJ. They do have a lot of decent players that are expiring contracts too but they are on a roll right now making it unlikely they make a major move. Now that Allen has passed away maybe KP can get over his grudge (alleged) against Portland.

CJ and Swanigan for Thad Young, Tyreke Evans, and Indy 2019 1st. Tyreke has been super disappointing coming off a good year last year. This gives Indy more of a long term fit. We could see if we could add Collison and Leonard to the trade to clear more salary for next summer but the problem with Tyreke is that he doesn't come with bird rights. Although if CJ and Leonard were both included we could possibly get up to $20 million in cap space cleared if Tyreke played well enough to offer him a mutli-year deal.

    Probably nothing here though.

Indy’s a strange team in that they seem to be a better team than the names on the roster would suggest. Weird to me how well Nate McMillan has adjusted to his talent there and he never really made those adjustments in Portland. Bogdonavich and Sabonis would be the guys od want to go after but they probably arent for sale. Edit: for sale is bas terminology, they probably arent available via trade.

I believe Kevin Love and Rodney Hood for CJ and _______will work in less than a month on the trade checker.

Hood has a no trade clause. He might waive it to come to Portland but we likely wouldn't be able to keep him after this season since we'd have no bird rights on him.

Yeah, I'd love to get Baby Sabas but I figured it would cost too much. Oladipo and CJ might not be that bad since Oladipo is a good defender.

He's playing under the one year Qualifying Offer this year, so it comes automatically with veto power and he becomes an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year.

Edit: The reason for that rule is that if he is traded he loses his bird rights because in this situation they wouldn't transfer from Cleveland to Portland so it could potentially cost him a lot of money.

Why would we want a big that only plays about 50 games a season? No thanks on Love.

I'd take Love if you could get him for cheap, but not as a CJ trade.

Here are the next four years salary for Love,

    $24,119,025 $28,942,830 $31,258,256 $31,258,256

There is nothing cheap about any of that. He is not worth 24 million, much less 31 million for two season. His contract would hamstring the blazers worse then ET, Moe or Meyers, most like worse then two of them combined. He is not worth 30% of a teams salary cap.

Yep and with only one more year after this we will be out from under the contracts of Harkless, Turner and Leonard.

Here is a guy who refused to believe in his limitations:
    https://www.oregonlive.com/blazers/...les_unpaid_intern_to_interim_trail_blaze.html

He wrote a letter once a week for a year straight to Erik Spoelstra before he was given a NBA internship.

why would you assume Olshey won't re-sign them? He has mad unending man-love for Meyers, enough to have cleared Ed Davis away, and just last summer, built a bench around Turner....his words

the only way Blazer fans can be assured that Meyers will be gone after 8 years and Turner after 4 is if Olshey is gone after 7...please god please

Courtney Lee for Meyers and Stauskas or Baldwin. Knicks save a couple mil and take a look at Meyers. We get a reliable bench player and open up a spot for the buyout market.

The Miami Heat are up. Whiteside and CJ are tight on twitter but I don't know if Miami would be interested in him. They have a lot of bad contracts.

CJ for Josh Richardson and Kelly Olynyk. I doubt the Heat would do this as some think Richardson is better than CJ. I think he's a little overrated but he's locked into a really good contract. I think Olynyk would mesh well with Collins on the 2nd unit. A trade like this would really give this team a boost yet there is something I don't like about it.

I'm not really seeing a good trade that works for both teams as either we aren't getting enough back or Miami would be giving up too much.
