are you talking about career VORP?

VORP is a cumulative stat similar to winshares (which is why winshares/48 is a better comparative stat). That is to say, VORP will naturally increase the more minutes and more possessions a player has

CJ has played well over 11,000 minutes in 381 games; Brogdon has less than 4500 minutes in 159 games. Of course CJ will do better in a cumulative stat. That's why CJ crushes Brogdon in total winshares, 24.8 vs 10.6...but Brogdon has a better winshare/48 career mark, .113 vs .105

With a designated player (5-year max). Nornal max contracts have no limitations.

Just realized I recognized your name from a different forum. I thought you were a long-time poster that took a hiatus.

Random, but you and Hoops have been great free agent additions.

For the CJ exercise the next team up is the NY Knicks. I'm really struggling with this one. On one hand I think NY would be one of the absolute best fits for CJ to go and explode into a near All-Star type player (a la Oladipo last year). On the other hand I doubt they'd even want him considering they think they're going to get Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving or Jimmy Butler this summer and taking on CJ makes that difficult. I don't really like any of the packages coming back either.

CJ and Swanigan for Kanter, Ntilikina, 2019 2nd (via Houston), 2020 2nd (via Charlotte), 2021 2nd (via Charlotte). This might be something to consider if we traded for Griffin because we'd need some big depth (assuming Leonard and Collins were part of the trade) but overall I'd rather just keep CJ if this is the best we could get for him.

I think the Blazers best option might be to wait for the Knicks to whiff in free agency and then they could dangle CJ out there. Might get a desperate knicks team willing to give up some players just because they think CJ could be a star for them.

But whom could they offer that would theoretically be worth it? They're obviously not giving up Porzingis. We should have no interest in Hardaway, Kanter, or Mudiay. Their rookies (Knox and Robinson) are intriguing, I guess, but is that really enough return for CJ?

I don't know. I'm sort of conflicted about what CJ's "worth" is in a trade. I could see some GM's not being interested in him at all. Some I think would look at him and think they could turn him into a star. Knox and Hardaway are the most intriguing to me.

Also if you wait for them to whiff you can probably get some future picks if you can convince them they need CJ.

I like Harris from the Nets. I wonder if we could spring him lose from them for a player and a pick?

If I was going to trade with Knicks Knox has to be included in the trade. He would surely solidify our small forward position.

The premise was waiting until after they strike out in free agency, thus, well after they've used said high draft pick. What are the chances that they'll give up the hype of their top-5 pick in a trade for CJ?

I wonder if Orlando would take on Leonard if we attached a pick. They’re not a free agent destination at alllll.

Leonard for Ross is a near identical swap financially.

Do you not fucking read? The whole point is to see what teams could potentially offer the best package for him.

I fucking made it clear as day that the Knicks do not make a good trade partner for what they'd be willing to give up and that I wouldn't trade CJ to them. Then here you are saying that proposal is bad? We actually agree on this one, but since you don't like that I'm not giving CJ enough respect you had to attack the proposal?

Then why make the proposal at all?

Half your trades you say this. Seems pointless.
