Crawford was master of the crossover, and Felton was a master of the doublecross. One of the more interesting backcourts in Blazer history.

Felton was the master of dribbling off his own foot...in fairness he couldn't see his own foot

I too think CJ would probably set the record for 6 man of the year awards if he accepted it...but he'll never win an award as a starting 2 guard in the west...the east he probably would.

My fear is that CJ becomes Kevin Martin ...purely a volume shooter

Whether it's an insult depends on the tool. He could be comparing your wit to a razor sharp blade! :devilwink:

I've been searching on and off all day on bball ref and nba.com to no avail. Does anyone know where we can find CJ's stats as starting PG?

He has looked absolutely dominant in some of the games I remember when Dame was out. Like @ OKC last year or a MIN/SAC game. I'm scared that he'll be another Oladipo.

Now, if somebody called *me* a tool, I'd know just what they meant. A fleshlight - ingenious but horrifying!

    All without Dame:

Like, we're not blind here, right? This guy looks like a different player when he's the lead guard. Are we certain that Terry is maximizing him?

I always said CJ and Dame were comparable players, one being the SG/PG equivalent to the other's PG/SG. CJ was very capable of running the point, contrary to the memory of many. Unfortunately, I think that ship has sailed. Whether it be the role CJ has settled or been established into, a decline in the more well-rounded aspects of his game, or my half-serious comments that rep'ing Chinese shoes killed his game, I just don't see him being that player anymore. I also said Portland management would be scared to move either one, and now it's looking like they waited too long.

You know what, I'm just gonna pull the stats together. There aren't that many games.

Alright here it is: I found 20 games in which CJ has played without Dame over the past three years.

CJ is averaging 26.9 pts, 4.9 rebs, 5.3 asts, 2.8 TO in 36.4 mpg.

For good measure: I found a TS% calculator. CJ is at 57%.

    That's no Jamal Crawford.

Which is why I've contended all along that they are not a good pairing but that CJ would actually be quite good on his own.

They're just not being maximized. I'm putting this on Terry.

To compare to CJ's stats that I posted above, here are Dame's numbers so far this year:
    26.0 pts, 4.5 rebs, 6.1 asts, 2.8 tos in 35.3 mpg. 58.7% TS%

Those numbers are shockingly identical. Ain't no way I'm moving a guy who can put up those kinds of numbers for a salary dump like people have suggested here. Especially without seeing what a different coach can do. I have long said that the two don't share a synergistic relationship. Well, CJ's numbers without Dame indicate that Dame is actually hindering CJ. That's on the coach!

    Edit:

I took this one step further. Here are all the players in the last 20 yrs who have done what CJ did in the 20 games w/o Dame:

His season AVGs are still fine except for the falling off a cliff from his 3p but just watching the games you can tell he is in one. The last 24 games the blazers have played, not counting the one he sat out, CJ has 13 where he didn't' score 20 points. 11 under 35% shooting, 15 where he is shooting under his season avg for 3. He isn't as comfortable from 3 this year and that is a big deal, our opponents know it as they have defending him differently as well.
