Our best chance is if they DON'T want to rebuild and wish to remain competitive and think CJ would thrive with his own team. If they do a complete tear down then there are several teams that can offer better younger players.

Who said anything about NO going for a full rebuild?

Spurs traded Kawhi for Derozan who is two years older. It happens.

Maybe not, but that's besides the point.

This could benefit the Lakers in more than one way. Lebron wants Kyrie back. This might force Boston's hand to trade him. Though of course the Lakers would rather have Davis, but they know Boston has the best package. Lebron's agent trying push a trade for his other client AD to get Boston to trade Kyrie to L.A. ?

I'm not going to throw people under the bus but a few people in here are saying that.

A trade for CJ could happen but not if they are going into full rebuild mode.

Even if Lebron's/Davis's agent is trying to force a trade, he can't make the Pels trade Davis to the Lakers. Any deal they offer is going to be shitty compared to what the Blazers can give. You think the Pels want anything to do with Lonzo Ball? That, and as has been said, the Pels can just wait it out. It's not like they are winning this year anyway. AD is not going to the Lakers, not this season.

How Davis could make almost as much with another team:
"Anthony Davis could earn $267M from the Pelicans over the next six years if he signs a “super-max” extension. But, if he’s traded, his various alternatives could be just as attractive. Here’s a comparison with one possibility:"

Yup, I study other team's salaries so I can tell you all the ones that are messed up.

Our pick also goes to NO. This deal saves the Pellies a year out of Jrue's contract while also giving them two top 10 picks from last year's draft in addition to CJ.

    Who says no?

I made the point. You're claiming that one player that who has excelled on every level would have the same value as another who has been what he is on every level. And you're claiming this in the face of reality, in the face of actual numbers and accomplishment. So, ignore the actual real life numbers and the talent disparity and iyo John Collins would be of equal value in Portland as Zach Collins. BECAUSE Stotts hates playing young players or the weather is depressing or Atlanta has nothing to play for or whatever; it doesn't matter the reason since all that is still theoretical and frankly annoying.

No chance Davis goes to Portland. Sorry but this is all about LA with an outside shot of maybe angling for NY. Davis and his agent aren’t going to make a huge statement like this with the hopes of ending up in Portland. I’m not sure his comment about contending for championships includes a team that sure, makes the playoffs but that’s about it. Especially the team his current team just swept. It’s about the Lakers. Lebron and his agent have planned this for a year.
