All Neil can do is make the offer. He can't force NO to make the trade. This isn't NB2k where you can override trades...unless your the Lakers of course. Hopefully, NO trades Davis to Portland or elsewhere to spite the Lakers. It feels like they are going to hold on to him until the summer. We will see.

My point is I don’t think he’s even going to make an offer. Not a legit one (CJ) anyway.

If it comes out that NO didnt make a serious offer for AD because he wouldnt include CJ, I think Id be done...

On the other hand if I am Neil and I did make an offer to New Orleans, I would go out of my way not to let who was included to get out.

Yes I am aware and I hope it stays quiet, but often times leaks happen (and sometimes there is no validity to it), but like I said if it comes out that he didn't make a real offer because he wouldn't include CJ... just stupid.

Right, neil isnt going to come out and say hey, we offered CJ, and that still wasnt enough.

So when we don't get him, fans will still insist he didnt offer it if he says nothing, or mock him if he says he didnt, even if hes just protecting chemistry in the locker room.

And if its leaked he DID offer, nobody will believe that anyways

Would you consider it stupid if word came from Davis's camp that he wouldn't re-sign with Portland?

I wouldn't because it probably means they did include CJ and didn't want to fracture the relationship. Probably would mean Neil is feeding info for damage control.

Also, 99% of trade discussions never get leaked to media, per GM's themselves they typically keep it on a need to know basis because it risks fracturing team chemistry.

So even if CJ were included, there is no way they'd allow it to get back to him, or else he might demand a trade.

Neil might me be a poor GM but he isn't an idiot and certainly doesn't tolerate leaks... Kim Hughes.

Yup a year and a half of AD and a shot at contending is better than CJ, and in 2020 a lot of the big contracts come off anyway so having AD comes off just means you reset and build around Nurk / Dame again.

Yeah, and that would really thrill Lillard i'm sure. Losing that much of an asset could put us back in the lottery but not bad enough tog get a high lottery pick and then Lillard's contract expires and then what?

So losing in the 1st round with CJ and Stotts will thrill him more? If they got AD this playoff run and next they would have a legit chance to compete. They don't have that right now. I'm sure Lillard would be pretty freaking happy to play with AD who he has said multiple times he wants to play with.

I don't think Dame would be mad if they got him even for a year and a half.

I'm guessing you haven't followed him at all. Maybe take a look and let us know what you think....or not.

What we know in my hypothetical is that Davis will be gone by the end of next year and very doubtful we could ever get by GS with Davis. In your hypothetical we don't know what round we will be eliminated and then when the large contracts are either traded or expire we will then have more flexibility and still have McCollum as an asset. I'm not interested in one year rentals.
