The Lakers and Team Brow are all-in on trying to force a deal that gets AD in LA this season. They know the odds of it happening later as a FA drop like a rock. Are they going to tell LeBron to hold off another year on a title run so they can keep cap space for AD? Don’t see that happening. Does AD want to sign up as a FA for playing with a geriatric LeBron in 2 years? I think it’s now or never time in LaLa land.

This trade is going down before the deadline. NO is putting out a lot of bullshit about Davis willing to go to Clippers or Milwaukee and also that some of them want to wait until end of season. They are just trying to drive the price up with LA, and I think LA may offer a third pick. I don't think NO trusts Ainge and they don't want to wait until then and lose leverage. It will happen now. They want to get it behind them.

Brian Lewis: Giannis Antetokounmpo on reports that Anthony Davis is interested in playing for the #Bucks: “This is the first time I’m hearing about it. Oh, wow! I have nothing to say about that. We’ll see how things pan out.” @anthony Davis
    – viaTwitter NYPost_Lewis

According to a source close to the Pelicans, that club has been informed the Celtics still will be willing to make a major offer for Davis in the offseason. Danny Ainge has, in other words, let it be known the Celts are ready to take their chances with keeping Davis beyond the summer of 2020 when he can become a free agent. As reported here again last Friday, the club took a similar stance in its pursuit of Paul George from Indiana during the 2016-17 season.

Fletcher Mackel: Pelicans source: Right now Dell Demps (and Danny Ferry, who’s very much involved in all aspects of Anthony Davis trade situation) are NOT taking Lakers offer @BA_Turner first reported. Some in Pels organization want LA deal. I’m told NOLA believes it can get Tatum this summer. – via Twitter

How would they lose leverage by waiting? Seems smarter to wait. Gives more teams time to get more assets together. Also they would know where the draft picks end up for teams like Boston and NY. Boston could draft for NO and trade them before signing them...I think

I so hope the latest Woj report is true and the Pelicans are basically asking for every possible pick and player the Lakers can give up. He said the Pelicans want the Lakers to include 4 1st round picks and 2nd rounders too.

I have listened to the local media guys in LA project for a couple of years now how free agents will be easily swayed by the magnetism of the Magic Man once he gets them to visit. Sure the average person in LA idolize the guy but the thing is the players he needs to impress were barely born when he retired. He means nothing to them. LBJ might, but Magic these days comes across as just another arrogant NBA executive. Its hard for the great ones not to be a little arrogant, and I am not sure that helps with with selling players on LA, and it sure as hell does not help with dealing with other GM's.

I'd say 4 unprotected 1sts, 8 2nds, and a right to swap ANY (ours or another teams) 1st we have with the Lakers in years that Lakers have to keep a 1st.

Yup, if I'm the Pelicans I'd say don't call me unless your next offer is:

    Lonzo Ball
    Brandon Ingram
    Kyle Kuzma
    Josh Hart
    Ivica Zubac
    Moritz Wagner
    Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
    Rajon Rondo
    2019 1st
    2020 2nd
    2021 1st
    2021 2nd
    2022 2nd
    2023 1st
    2023 2nd
    2024 2nd
    2025 1st
    2025 2nd

    for

    Anthony Davis
    Solomon Hill
    Darius Miller
    Cheick Diallo
    Ian Clark
    Tim Frazier

Pelicans then buyout Wesley Johnson and cut/trade someone else.

Then I try to flip KCP, Rondo, Ball, and Ingram to other teams.

And then AD leaves LA in free agency in 2020, best summer ever.

Better yet he signs for a max deal with Lakers in 2020. Has an awesome year but blows out his knee in the playoffs forcing him to miss the next years playoffs as well. Yes that was a horrible to say, and I hate myself for thinking it. None-the-less..............:D

It would be funny if he realized he shouldn't have left New Orleans so he goes back there and they still have 5 years of LAL picks and have Anthony Davis back.

True but my very dark comedy leaves the Lakers with an aging LBJ by that time and his massive salary and the massive Davis long term contract.
The Lakers curse would be in full force.

I wonder if we'd be in the same boat with Dame if we were 23-31 instead of 32-20.
