I don’t think anybody expects a blockbuster trade. Just something that will make us better going forward. That’s all

I think Collins isn’t being mentioned on account of him being not very good and having not a lot of value.

    F0rget a player on CP's caliber.

I'd settle for a starter. Our holes on the roster are obvious and have been the same for three years now. He still hasn't done a damn thing to address them.

Chris Paul would NEVER agree to come to Portland. So, it sounds like you're saying that Portland, by its very nature, can't make what you consider an impact trade. So, why bitch about Neil? If Jesus was our GM, Chris Paul still wouldn't come.

Neil HAS done some things to irk me - he's far from perfect. I think what everyone wants is for him to trade for a starter. Yes, he did so with Nurk, and congrats. But, Harkless and Aminu, as good as they are, are not championship team starters, IMHO. I (and probably you) have been waiting for a consolidation trade, and yes, it feels like waiting for Godot.

Paul George would never want to go to the Thunder and will absolutely leave to sign with the Lakers.

I love how the Pels are straight up trolling/sabotaging the Lakers as payback for tampering with their team. All of their offers have been made public, now the entire young core of the Lakers basically feels expendable. I’m sure that will do wonders for team moral moving forward. Lakers fans are shitting their pants at the prospect of not getting whatever they want. I love it.

@Jade Falcon we might need a special edition of the other side thread for the Lakers fans meltdown if they (fingers crossed) don’t get Davis.

Moving forward or the 25 games after the allstar break? That to me is the dilemma for Neil. A blockbuster obviously would take care of both but as you said won't happen. What helps us moving forward? Keeping our pick? Getting out of the luxury tax? a young player with potential (i.e Prince) a starter next year at PF? I am not sure we will be happy with any of these but I would take a chance on Mirotic

I like mirotic as well. The pick we will get will be useless to us. Harkless and a first to the pelicans for mirotic. That’s what I would like to see

That's absolutely true - a 1 in 10 chance, but planning on hitting on a 1 in 10 chance isn't a good way to run a franchise, generally. It WAS a good move for OKC because they were in a corner. So, 1 in 10 was better than doing nothing.

The pelicans probably don't want Hark's contract at this time but they could turn around and move it next year for a 2nd round pick.

Some fans would say Portland has been doing quite a bit of 'nothing' for several years now. 2 wins beyond the 1st round of the Playoffs in umpteen seasons doesn't seem very far from nothing.

I think this is what we are waiting for. NO needs to clear a bunch of room on their roster to make this kinda move. A Mirotic and Frazier for Moe+ pick gives em a roster spot. I expect something like that to happen by the end of the day.

Still a bit disappointing. I dont like the idea of giving up our pick for a rental.

Zach Lowe had a decent bit about it. Basically, no FA is going there anytime soon, so overpay a bit for a guy who got overpaid (and whose team now doesn't want to afford him), but raises the level of play.

I mean, it's not horrible to suggest that CJ is our Porter (really good player who maybe is not worth the max, but worth it to us at the time and definitely worth it not to lose him).

But they have been a historically cheap franchise and don't really need him to win their 30 games.
