And not having those picks changed things how? Majority of 2nd round picks never make it in the NBA.

    JLin to Toronto.

That's a strong team up there. Peak of Linsanity happened in Toronto.

Good move for the Raptors. They only had 10 players on their roster. Still room for more additions.

I'm guessing that includes the two 2-way players?

    They got 4 waiver additions:

    Ben Mclemore -- 10 day
    Lin
Someone named Malcolm Miller and Chris Boucher converted from 2-ways to full time multi year deals.

And they still have a roster spot open. Masai is killing it.

They converted Boucher to a multi year deal, and Miller for the rest of the season. They also signed Ben McLemore to a 10 day.

If I’m Olshey I’m holding out and seeing what happens with Pau Gasol. Perfect backup, locker room guy. Zach should be in his pocket if he were signed.

Stotts hasn’t settled on a backup for Nurk (he keeps alternating Meyers and Zach) so I definitely think we are/should be in the market for a more dependable big.

Is there a reason he hasn't played in SA?

They’ve committed to Aldridge and Poeltl at center.

Greg Monroe has been trash this season, but to be fair to him, he also barely had a role. He graded out pretty well last year on both ends of the court with the Celtics and the Suns. He’s a great offensive rebounder, can score, and is a willing passer. At first I was against it, but doing a deeper dive aka looking at his numbers last year makes me think he could probably help us.

I'm going to be even more pissed if we could've gotten a 2nd round pick for taking on Monroe and instead just signed him outright.

Just last season. Layman would be a huge benefactor playing with a passing big on that second unit. Our offense wouldn’t have to change.

Not sure if this is sarcasm, but pretty good. Better than Meyers and Zach and in line with guys like DeAndre Jordan. I don’t know how he’s looked lately but he’s always been a good pick and roll player as well, so if Nurk gets in foul trouble we could just plug in Monroe and run the same plays.

I had no idea one way or the other; was just playing off your talking up Gortat's screen assist proficiency the other day. I actually do appreciate the legit response.

I would have no issue with Gortat, Kanter, Gasol, or Monroe. I don't trust Collins or Leonard to be capable and reliable backups to Nurk in the playoffs. I have no delusions of grandeur for this squad in the postseason, but it would do our fanbase good to see the team win in the first round again.

Yeah we’re fucked without Nurk. Leonard and Collins have their moments but I wouldn’t be leaning on moments to get me through a playoff series. Pretty much all those guys on the list would be upgrades. It just comes down to preference. Monroes game is the closest to Nurk offensively. Gortat is as well, but you don’t get the same passing ability. On the other hand he’s better than Monroe defensively. Kanter is strictly an offensive player. Gasol is probably the most rounded, but I’m not sure the Spurs are going to let him go. Lopez is probably headed to Golden State.

There are only so many teams in the market for a traditional center so I’m confident we could land one, assuming Olshey is in the market. No reason he shouldn’t be.

Where Olshey is concerned, no assumption is safe.
