I could see it maybe against teams like Utah and San Antonio with their Aldridge/Gasol and Favors/Gobert pairings. Nurkic averages 27 minutes a game, and Kanter averages 25. There's enough minutes for both, and Kanter knows he'll see big minutes if Nurkic gets into foul trouble (or worse).
Guys just rip the ball out of Zach's hands in the paint the last stretch of games...something he needs to address in my view. Seems he's pretty easy to tie up. Weird because I don't believe he had that issue early on
This is the key does Stotts know how to use bigs in a offense. Remember this is a guard oriented offense that Stotts have. It either pnr or PNP type offensive for the bigs. Occasionally they throw it down low to a big.
In 2016-17, Kanter’s most frequent lineup included Steven Adams. The top two point differential lineups for OKC that year also included the pair. Worth looking into and probably something that has already been discussed. Don’t think Kanter would come here to play 18-20 minutes.
I've heard from fans that his defense has noticeably improved since he got to New York, and his DBPM has improved (if someone could get me other advanced defensive metrics that'd be great, I struggle to find those). Hopefully he's an adequate defender for us.
I think you'll see 3 minutes a game of "twin tower" lineups. If Nurkic continues to play his 27mpg, that means Kanter would get 24mpg (which is on par for the rest of his career).
Yup. We have a very good and deep big man rotation now. With Aminu and Leonard being the only constants, we've somehow went from Plumlee, Davis, and Vonleh to Nurkic, Kanter, Collins, and Labissiere. That's solid. Two years ago: Plumlee Davis Vonleh Now: Nurkic Kanter Collins Labissiere
Yeah but you’re talking on average. Down the stretch and in a playoff scenario Nurk should be out there for 30+ minutes unless he’s in foul trouble. We’ll probably see Kanter paired with Nurk more than maybe we think at first glance.
Good pickup by Olshey, he continues to impress. I don't think this crowds the rotation at all. Collins and Meyers have not exactly excelled overall, but are good to have if we have to go big, encounter foul trouble, or someone gets banged up. Suddenly our bench has some fire power. Lets not talk about defense, defense is boring.
Dame CJ Hark Chief Nurk ET/Curry Hood Layman Collins Kanter Nards/Skal I’m guessing the top 11 are the new rotation and the bottom 2 are odd men out. We would be much better if we tightened up the rotation to an 8 man imo but Stotts doesn’t like hurting people’s feelings so I’m guessing the random expiremental rotations will continue. Can anyone name a team who consistently played 10-11 and were successful?
