Best prospect on Kentucky (not saying much) and will have better NBA career than Rui Hachimura. Again, not saying much.

I really like him though for what he is.

He's big and can score, but I'm still not sure he knows how to play.

Not a very versatile player on either end.

Could be wrong, but I'm sticking to it.

Im really surprised to hear that from you. Your probably a better talent evaluator than I am. I have been kind of high on Rui. Was hoping the Blazers could move up to the 8-12 range and grab him.
Id like to say I think Mark Few does an incredible job of having guys coached up not a lot of bad bbiq guys come out of Zaga. Even the busts, are usually busts for other reasons. Really appreciate your insight though. Id trust your opinion over mine in this area.

And I get the whole language barrier thing and I think he was fairly late to the game, but for a 21 year old kid, he still has way too many mental gaffes on both ends for my liking.

And I'm not sure he's athletic or skilled enough to translate his mid post game at the next level. Shown enough touch that I think he can stretch it out to three if he's forced to be a more off the ball player, but he's a heavy footed kid and really don't trust his IQ to move his game out to the perimeter defensively.

Feel like of he's going to make it, it's going to be as an offense only 4 off the bench and that player just doesn't have much value in today's nba imo.

It's also seemed to me that JDC trends towards the unpopular opinion to be different. Its hit or miss.

    To be different?

I like players, because I like them. No other reason.

And there are plenty of other people that are extremely wary of how Rui translates to the NBA game.

Rui kind of reminds me of Tobias Harris. Which is odd cause he just got traded. Now Ill be honest Harris’ game has always kind of frustrated me because it seemed like he could be better than he was, but he seems to finally be living up to what he should be.

Great comparison. I think he's a little more athletic and a little better with the ball in transition. Maybe a little better ball handler.

Tobias was also the 5th rated player in his class and productive as an out of shape 18 year old freshman.

I can see that as his upside, but think it's far from likely and at 21 years old you're still doing a lot more projecting with Rui than you were with Tobias if you view him playing a similar role in the NBA.

Hachimura likely wouldnt be the shooter Tobias is, but I think his defense could be better and he could play a very similar, productive style. Rui is big and strong enough to play PF I the NBA, and his skillset at that position is really solid, with a lot of upside.

Maybe guarding bigs because I think Rui is definitely stronger and better at holding his position inside, but I think Tobias has the advantage everywhere else. Much lighter on his feet and far better IQ/awareness as a team defender at a younger age.

And yes, I watched a lot of Tobias Harris as a freshman.

I didn't ask if you did.

You underrate Rui's footspeed and especially his ability to recover and still block shots even if his guy has half a step. He did a great job down the stretch against elite players in the Duke game earlier this year.

He also isnt a bad team defender at all. Solid weaksode shot blocker and rotates quickly as a help defender. Rarely out of position either.

Like we often do, we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one.

Rui was an awful team defender last year imo (Few didn't trust him at all) and is only marginally better this year. And I'm watching the LMU game right now and have come across 5-6 IQ / foot speed issue related plays defensively from him in the first half alone.

A 5-6 from you is about as good as an A haha.

The team plays down to their opponents. It's LMU, they werent locked in the entire game. Against better players he raises his game.

My favorite (not necessarily the best) players in this draft in no particular order....

    Zion Williamson
    Jarrett Culver
    Cam Reddish
Ja Morant (although I really think he might be a flash over substance guy on both ends and the celebrating after nearly every highlight play gets to me)
    Jaxson Hayes
    DeAndre Hunter
    Ochai Abaiji
    Tyler Herro
    Goga Bitadze
    Matisse Thybulle
    Jontay Porter
    Ignas Brazdeikis

I'm a big Admiral Schofield fan. Strong, 3-and-D guy who can hit shots off the dribble in the mid-range and from 3. Plays with a lot of energy and fire.

Fan of his teammate Grant Williams too. I like that he can defend 4 positions, hit shots from all three levels, rebound, as well as distribute and handle the ball a little bit. He has a bit of Draymond in him. I think he could help a team right away.
