Aww KD wanted to play here. How do we get Cousins, KD, and AD to Portland without trading Dame? Can someone hit the trade machine!!!!???
who gives a shit, KD has shown he would ditch a GREAT situation in a small market in prime contention years with a fanbase that idolized him for a guaranteed ring on a pre-built dynasty. Fuck him. Good riddance we avoided that mess.
Must trade expiring contracts for cap space! Where there’s a will there’s a way. How could we create 50+ million in cap space? Get them to take less to play together like Wade/LeBron/Bosh did. Like I said, hit the trade machine. CJ to the Knicks for a button?
Nope, too late for any of that. We would've had to trade all those guys before the trade deadline. Virtually impossible to pull off now.
June is still under this year's league cap numbers. There isn't a single team that can accept Harkless, Leonard, or Turner in a salary dump because the one team that could (Sacramento Kings) used up their cap space at the deadline. There may be a team or two with a trade exception big enough but those teams are the ones trying to get max cap space this summer so they won't be interested in wasting that space for those guys. In July it is extremely unlikely a team will want to waste cap space at the start of free agency on acquiring those guys. This plan would be near impossible to pull off even if we had cap space but now we would have to put it into place before having cap space, find teams willing to give us cap space, talk those guys into actually signing here (by the way there is still no real way to get both Durant and Cousins in free agency), and talk New Orleans into trading us Davis all before another team swoops in and signs one of them ruining our whole plan. If we're going to dump salary the most realistic time won't be until after free agency dies down like when Denver did it last year and by then it would be too late to pull this off.
yeah, lets trade the farm away for cap space to try for them and then, them tell us no and they go sign somewhere else. smart.
