Game Thread GAME# 79: BLAZERS @ NUGGETS - APRIL 5, 2019 - FRIDAY, 7:30 PM, ESPN & NBCSNW

Discussion in 'Portland Trail Blazers' started by Darkwebs, Apr 4, 2019.

?

How do you feel about home-and-away series during the regular season?

Poll closed Apr 11, 2019.
  1. Love 'em. The competition/rivalry is more fierce & fun playing 2 straight against the same team.

    18.4%
  2. I like 'em. It adds some intrigue and interest to an otherwise long season.

    18.4%
  3. Meh. No opinion either way

    44.9%
  4. I don't really like them. They don't add much to a regular season game.

    6.1%
  5. Hate 'em. I don't like seeing the same team again so soon. And these seem to always end in a split.

    12.2%

Huh, this post doesn't make sense. We can only be 3, 4, or 5 so how does winning Sunday make it unfortunate we will be 4th or 5th?

Losing tonight means there probably 4-5, not winning sunday.

And if he shoots it 25 times on an off game the same people still probably rip into him for being a ball hog...

We're 30-9 at home and we nearly beat them in their building. We can absolutely win on Sunday. I want Curry back though.

Are you sure you didn't just read it after a bunch of posts had been deleted?

If Houston goes 1-1 (Phoenix, OKC)
And if we go 3-0 (Denver, Lakers, Kings)
And if Denver wins at least once (Utah, Minnesota)

    then

    Denver 54-28
    Portland 53-29
    Houston 53-29

That's our path to the third seed. We need OKC to lose a game (Bucks?) and the Clippers to win a game (at home vs Utah?) and Clippers get 6 seed.

That sets us with a 3-6 matchup with the Clippers that opens at the Moda Center next weekend.

That is the best case scenario.

Paul had a great game and we saw what putting size on him looked like a couple times in this game. His footwork, handle, quickness and crafty foul drawing make it so that putting more size on him and calling it a day is no great solution. Great passer too so a double might help take him away, but there's little guarantee that Denver isn't still finding a great shot elsewhere.

Also went back and watched all of Denver's offensive possessions and Harkless was directly matched up with Millsap exactly 0 times. Switched with Aminu on a cross screen and was put in the basket... literally no other possession was Moe the primary defender.

And if Aminu is such a shitty post defender vs size and Moe is in fact the better option (which I still greatly disagree with), is he the better perimeter defender?

I think we all know the answer to that question.

Because hes a troll that tries to rile people up, and then plays the victim card when they do. He broke the rules by making another account.

I don't know what he was doing in Denver anyways. He could stay home and watch this game with Nurk. How smart you have to be as a coach to look at the schedule in January and say: "This away game in Denver, just before the playoffs is going to be hard. Let's dont risk Lillard, this will be good oportunity to rest him a bit before playoffs. Instead let's win this Miami game after 5 days off." Yes, I still remember that game, when team was out of shape, cos they had too many days off(!). Instead Stotts decided to play Lillard 39 mins in one of the hardest places to play and it is just after Nurk injury. Again - how smart you have to be to predict a L in this game and rest your star is something I really don't understand.

Denver guards did a good keeping attached to Dame most of the game. They made it tuff on him. Aminu Kanter Hood Layman Turner had good offensive game tonight. My worries is there no rim proctor in there and give Kanter credit he working hard in there but he still limited on that end. Our guards is not slowing down anybody and without Nurk there know buddy back there to bail them out.

Yeah that doesn't make sense. I think all this resting is bullshit really. Michael Jordan used to play every game. Fuck, he played all out in preseason. And he was fine in playoffs. If you're in shape, you should be able to handle it.

Its not about being able to handle it, its that Pop showed stars that hey if you rest yourselves you can prolong your career and keep getting big paydays.

Yup, there are also a couple days off between our last regular season game and first playoff game. 3 if our first game is Sunday.

Yep. Forget Pops. He won 5 titles. Mike won 6. Go all out and rest in off season.

I hate it for a few reasons, the end of the last couple seasons has been a freaking Joke. It also means when you play teams is increasingly important. Sucks if you play teams when they’re trying early in the year and other teams get to beat up on them after theyve stopped trying.
