Dame joked and said they get more playoff bonuses for being the 3rd seed vs 4th. I looked it up and it's true!

How have I followed the NBA for so long and never realized this?

George shooting .434 since coming back from injury. It seems like he was shooting better before that time off.

Paul George against the Blazers this Season: 30.4 PPG, 44.8 FG%, 44.5 3P%,

Russel Westbrook against the Blazers this Season: 29.5 PPG, 42.0 FG%, 26,4 3P% (at least one good stat for us)

Holy shit, and this was all with Nurkic.

I preferred playing the Jazz, but I agree the regular season record is misleading. As someone else pointed out,
our two road losses were both on the end of a back to back. One home loss was by 2 points, and the other was in OT right after a 7 game road trip.

They did close out games against us better, but I prefer that we lost all 4 match ups vs winning all 4. Being 4-0 would be the kiss of death.

I will say this: I think we stand a better (=slightly less awful) chance against the Thunder than the Jazz. Here's the second-half record of all the teams, and the Jazz have been pretty hot:

The Thunder, meanwhile, have had the worst record of the West playoff teams. And it wasn't because they were missing key players - was it?

Yeah but that graphic also shows the Blazers as being hot as well (1 game difference from the Jazz with a lot more road games) Even without CJ and Nurk.

I just don't think it makes that much of a difference.

Another sweep projected? I couldn't handle that....especially to the Sonics.

Don't think they will get swept though.

personally, I think that Utah would have been a better match-up for Portland than OKC

but that's more of a general sense of things. When I look at factors:

    * Gobert seems more capable of exploiting Kanter's weaknesses than Adams and more capable of defending Kanter's offense

    * Utah is consistent in that they will rarely beat themselves. They are disciplined and rely on fundamental defense and offensive execution. On the other hand, OKC is prone to inconsistency and they can self-destruct in spectacular fashion. Obviously, Portland is capable of that too but they are much more likely to get gifts from OKC then from Utah

    * Utah is healthy, for the most part, while there are questions about PG and Adams

Portland went 4-0 against OKC last season and went 0-4 this season. What was the difference? Well, no Melo for one thing. But the main difference is last season OKC had Paul George; this season, they had MVP-level Paul George, especially in Blazer games. Portland has no answer for that. If OKC brings regular PG13, Portland has a decent shot at winning the series. If MVP-level PG13 shows up it's turn out the lights

PG's shoulder injury has contributed to their shit record. As well as better competition.
