Did you not watch the interview with the producers after the episode?

Not that I was rooting for death but does anyone else feel like it was a bit of a cop out to not have both more death and at least one more major character death?

George RR Martin definitely didn't have a say in this episode otherwise I'm pretty sure it would've played out much differently. I'm guessing they didn't want many of the major characters dying in this battle.

The Hound will fight The Mountain at least it better happen that way.

Bron might kill one of Tyrion or Jamie but one or both will have some sort of thing happen with Cersei.

I don't know. It was a great episode but part of what makes GOT great is that no one is safe from dying and I feel like this episode was more like a typical hero movie where most of the good guys win.

Dude, you should really not be reading this thread or anything GOT related then. It's gonna be so much less impactful if you know how it ends and who's still alive.

I’m really not sure how anyone survived once the zombies overran the castle.

    I know, right?

I was expecting when they all fell back to being dead for at least a couple of main characters to not get back up again.

What if Bran somehow gets the Night King's ability to raise the dead?

You can tell that we have split from GRRM because if that crazy old fucker bad written this episode, literally everyone would be dead.

I definitely expected more main character deaths. The same director who has done all the large battle episodes is doing episode 5 as well. More main characters will probably die in that episode, but I have a hard time believing they survived last night, but will die facing the Lanister army.

I thought it was a great episode.
    Arya is a bad ass.
    What happened to Ghost?
What is Bran's purpose? What did the ravens do to help during the battle? Nothing! Bran is starting to annoy me.
Theon, Lyanna, Eddison, Beric, and Ser Jorah all died. Did Sam die also? It looked like it to me, looked like he got gobbled up by the dead.
Is dragon Rhaegal OK? I dont think they showed it again after it fell to the ground with Jon.
Doesnt look like there are any troops left for Jon and Dany to use to fight Cersie.

Last weeks episode was better than this one. Where did Arya come from? I get it. She’s sneaky, but come on. The battle scenes weren’t well done, sorry. I couldn’t see shit and I had every light in my place turned off.

I enjoyed the episode a lot, but I did have to suspend some belief because of a lack of internal self-consistency. However,
that happens a lot in the fantasy genre.

I think this episode showed the difference between "great television" and "compelling television."

To me, there were too many holes for this to be a great episode. For one thing, it was too dark to see what was happening. I get that it was a realistic medieval night battle (aside from dragons and zombies and witches and giants), but it's a problem when you can't see who the characters are when there is almost no dialogue. As happy as I am that most of my favorite characters (RIP Jorah and Beric and, oh yeah, Lyanna Mormont) and none of the major characters died, that wasn't going to happen ... that SHOULDN'T have happened. How the heck is it possible that Jaime, Breanne, Sam and Podrick survive? They were trapped against a wall for a half-hour. It made me happy. But great television isn't about making you happy.

I liked the music, but I didn't think it fit the last 15 minutes. Just felt off. Not a memorable melody, either. And Dany fighting with a sword? I mean, I loved watching her battle back to back with Jorah, but do we have any indication she can fight as well hand-to-hand as she did, especially after falling several stories off a dragon?

There were some phenomenal scenes, even some epic (the Dothraki slowly being snuffed out as their lights and calls disappear; Arya and the Night King at the end; Lyanna and the giant). I think acting is at its purest without words, and there were scenes with Dany and Jon and with Sansa and Tyrion that just rang so true. Those were spots, though.

The deaths of Jorah, the Little Bear, Beric, and Theon were so poetic. Probably couldn't have been more perfect.

So it had great moments and holes in it. It wasn't great. But it was watchable, exciting, intense, as much for the anticipation of what COULD happen as for actually did. The twist at the end, beautiful. Entertainment isn't always about being great.

Too bad the camera doesn't show the Thunder shattering into a million pieces of ice.

I enjoyed it. I couldn't see what was happening very well and surprised there weren't that many deaths of the main characters, also surprised the Night King was snuffed out this episode. With all that said, I'm not a TV critic and just enjoy experiencing the show.

In the next episode sneak peak (18s mark) it appears you can see ghost standing there, so it seems he lived and is still around.

I'm pretty sure Sam lived, only due to plot armor, he was pretty worthless.
