RNC’s McDaniel at CPAC: GOPers mulling Trump primary challenge will ‘lose horribly’

By Alex Pappas | Fox News
Ronna McDaniel says the 2020 Democratic field is 'weak'

NATIONAL HARBOR, Md. – Don’t expect the RNC to be neutral if President Trump faces a Republican primary challenger in 2020, party leader Ronna McDaniel indicated to conservative activists Thursday.

McDaniel, the chairwoman of the Republican National Committee, was asked by an interviewer during an appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference about the possibility that a Republican, such as former Ohio Gov. John Kasich or Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, could challenge Trump.

“They have the right to jump in and lose,” McDaniel said. “That’s fine. They’ll lose horribly.”

McDaniel said Trump is enormously popular in the party. He is scheduled to appear at CPAC on Saturday.

“Our country is booming,” McDaniel told radio host Vince Coglianese. “Jobs are coming back. Wages are up. Our military has been strengthened. Our veterans have been taken care of. Our trade deals are stronger. We have put rule of law judges at every level of the courts, including the Supreme Court with Kavanaugh and Gorsuch.”

McDaniel added: “What would any Republican be thinking saying, ‘this a guy I’m going to run against?’”

Both Kasich and Hogan are anti-Trump Republicans who have not yet ruled out a primary run. Former Republican Massachusetts Gov. Bill Weld recently announced an exploratory committee. None of these Republicans is scheduled to appear at the conference.

But McDaniel expressed confidence about Trump’s chances.

“So have at it. Go ahead. Waste your money, waste your time, and go ahead and lose,” she said.

The annual conference of hardcore conservatives began Wednesday at National Harbor, where the theme is “What Makes America Great” – a not-so-subtle play on Trump’s campaign slogan.

CPAC began its day with Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, the top Republican on the House Oversight Committee, and North Carolina Rep. Mark Meadows, warning of the rise of socialism in the “radical” Democratic Party while saying they believe congressional Democrats are laying the foundation for Trump impeachment efforts.

    The conference lasts until Saturday.

Huge new $2,500 per child tax credits are now in effect.

A friend of mine just got $10,000 from the IRS for his 4 children + his withheld taxes for the year. Paid zero to the IRS. Got $10,000 from the IRS.

Over the next few months most Americans are going to see huge refunds to add to their higher paychecks, and know for certain that the Libs have been lying to them.

    Trump approval rating already climbing.

His approval rating is topping out at 6% below his disapproval rating.
My God, man, the public overwhelmingly believes Cohen over him by something like 27%. He's a liar among many other devilish traits.

I got back a lot more than that with no kids although I'm relatively wealthy. Meanwhile, a lot of the lower middle class, that live out there near you, got back enough for a Big Mac with fries.

Perhaps the most overwhelming reason Trump will be re-elected is the fact that Dems in positions of power keep revealing how completely ignorant they are of the Constitution which they are hired to operate under, how blatantly obstructionist they are even when it endangers the lives and livelihoods of the American Citizens who are their only employers, and how mentally-deficient they are anytime they attempt to debate basic issues such as the economy, taxes, immigration, healthcare...

"Mad" Maxine Waters just now threw a schoolgirl tantrum at the hearing she is supposedly entrusted to conduct in an adult, professional manner. It was seriously cringe-worthy, even for her. When she's not randomly spewing hate she's actively inciting violence against conservative Politicians and conservative Americans. She just can't summon a display of adulthood no matter how hard she tries. Every time she is seen or heard on TV loses the Dems votes.

"Leaking" Adam Schiff has tripled-down on his 100% thoroughly debunked claim that he has seen evidence of crimes by the POTUS, but is meanwhile under a criminal investigation for illegal sharing of highly-classified information with the press. His resignation from his now-tainted Chairman position on the House Intelligence Committee has been demanded by all Republican members for obvious reasons and he'll soon be tweeting from the woods somewhere ala Comey. Every time he is seen or heard on TV loses the Dems votes.

"Incoherent" Nancy Pelosi has been a lame duck ever since she forced her way into her seat as speaker. She's increasingly unable to string more than half a dozen or so words together and often just gives up on finishing a statement and jumps off to some unrelated thought. It's obvious she's suffering from dementia and it's criminal that nobody has stepped forward and removed her from office in order to protect America. The corporate-owned "socialist"-newbies openly mock her and ignore her while her fellow deep-staters avoid her like the plague. Every time she is seen or heard on TV loses the Dems votes.

The median household income for La Pine is around $25,000 yr, which means most paid zero taxes or actually got additional income from the IRS.

Dems can pretty much write off any rural voters they used to have.

Yes, no sense in contributing any campaign money to a cause that's a forgone conclusion. For proof of how successful Trump is going to be we only need look at the 2018 election.

According to Gallup, Trump is up to a whopping 39% approval and a miniscule 57% unapproval.

You must hate your laggard neighbors and they must enjoy the fruits they receive from the urban workers via the gummit.

The FBI should offer a reward for evidence or information leading to the discovery and apprehension of an honest Chicago government employee.

If such a person exists, he/she must be in hiding. :dunno:

Another conflict of interest pops up in Kim Foxx's handling of Jussie Smollett case

    By
    Barnini Chakraborty | Fox News

Newly uncovered texts between Kim Foxx and staff shed light on handling of Jussie Smollett case
Prosecutor Kim Foxx compares Smollett's case with R. Kelly's; Trace Gallagher has the details.

The Cook County judge set to decide whether a special prosecutor should be appointed to investigate why charges were dropped against "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett has a son who works in the state's attorney's office.

The news sets up another potential conflict of interest with State's Attorney Kim Foxx's office and its handling of the controversial case.

Judge Leroy Martin Jr. addressed a petition Thursday filed by retired appellate Judge Sheila O'Brien to recuse himself and assign the case to a judge outside Cook County.

Martin's son, Leroy Martin III, is an assistant state's attorney who has worked under Foxx for more than a year. He was hired in April 2018.

"You're going to be deciding whether (Foxx), your son's boss, is teling the truth," O'Brien told Martin.

Martin said he would decide whether to recuse himself and set the next hearing on the matter for May 10.

“I think it is a problem,” CBS2 legal analyst Irv Miller said about Martin presiding over the case. “She’s the son’s employer. She controls his son’s pay, promotions. That’s why there is an appearance of impropriety.”

O'Brien has also asked for a special prosecutor to delve into the behind-the-scenes decision-making process in the Smollett case.

Foxx has publicly said she'd welcome an independent probe into her office's decision to dismiss a 16-count indictment against Smollett, who is accused of staging a hate crime on himself.

However, she filed a motion on Tuesday opposing the call for a special prosecutor made by O'Brien. Her office filed two other motions that day as well. One seeks to quash subpoenas for Foxx and her top assistant Joseph Magats and prevent O'Brien from requesting additional subpoenas. The other seeks the court's permission to allow Foxx's office and the county inspector general access to records that were sealed at the same hearing where prosecutors dropped all charges against Smollett.

The decision to drop the charges during an unannounced March hearing sparked outrage from the Chicago Police Department as well as outgoing Mayor Rahm Emanuel who blasted the move as a "whitewash of justice."

President Trump also weighed in on the case, calling it "an embarrassment to our nation" in a March 28 tweet.

O'Brien's petition calls out Foxx's handling of the case for saying she recused herself in the early stages of the investigation because she was in contact with a family member of Smollett only to claim recently that her recusal was not a recusal "in the legal sense" which would have required her entire office to withdraw from the prosecution.

O'Brien claims Foxx's comments and actions created "a perception that justice was not served here, that Mr. Smollett received special treatment."
