I don't disagree with that at all. I didn't expect Portland to win this game or the series. HOWEVER......a coach's job is to put his players in the best position to win and by Stotts doing what he did, they did not have that opportunity. Blazers winning games because CJ gets hot or Dame hits a 37'er is not coaching. Coaching is about schemes, adjustments (Stotts rarely makes them) and relationship. Stotts is good at relationships. I don't see much from the other two areas.

I've said this before. It's not that Portland lost. It's more about HOW they lost.

The Warriors are a very good team even without KD, but so are we. If we were running the correct defensive scheme and getting beat because they were more talented, that'd be one thing. I wouldn't blame Stotts for that. But that's not what happened tonight. We ran a terrible defensive scheme.

You know, this may be the first time I have heard you give the Warriors any credit. Usually, you are making excuses for the teams they beat. Seriously.

Lot thing I don't blame Stotts the turnovers the shooting and sometimes the defensive. But I will blame the coach on the game plan and mid game adjustments.

You left our a lot of the “reality”:

Stotts coached us to 3 seed without CJ and Nurk for the final stretch.

Stotts coached us to 2 series wins WITHOUT Nurkic and his backup injured and against the best center in the league in Jokic.

“Almost everyone” thought OKC would beat us in 4 or 5 games. OKC had MVP Westbrook and MVP candidate Paul George.

Stotts has done a fantastic job getting us this far and he’s not done yet. Trashing him after one game is stupid imho.

    More reality, TBpup:

Beat Nuggets in game 7 on road against BEST HOME TEAM IN NBA. Game 7 home team has won 79% of the time.

We're one of the last 4 teams playing, without out franchise center. I know we have great players, but I'll take Stotts over anyone else currently available. He's done a great job this season, we're in the Western Conference Finals guys.

Stotts 'coached' us to the #3 seed? He tried to get the #4 seed by sitting out top 9 players in the Final game and then Simons went out and messed that up.

'Almost everyone' forgot that OKC hadn't won a series without Durant.....ever. Non-Spock memories.

And I'm not 'trashing' him. Many people (me included) are pointing out VERY legitimate questions as to why you would defend 2 of the best shooters in the league with that type of defensive game plan. Seems like an extremely legit query to me.

Literally, anyone else currently available would HAVE NOT employed the strategy to let Steph and Klay shoot uncontested shots all night.

But are you 100% certain that "literally, anyone else currently available" would have got us to the Western Conference Finals? I'm 100% sure that Terry Stotts did.

Outside of Pop, Bud, Stevens, Kerr, Carlisle, and Spoelstra who is better?

Seriously wanted Bud when he was leaving Atlanta. I think @BonesJones was of the same ilk. He was available and Stotts was coming off another Playoff sweep. I also think Messina would be quite good. As for who is 'better', someone who doesn't let Curry shoot practice shots all game comes to mind.

John Beilein.. seriously though I like Terry just don't think he's great enough to get us to the next level. Always been of the opinion that defense wins championships.

OKC had only played 2 series without Durant. Not a big sample size. And if it weren’t for Stotts’ coaching, that streak would’ve ended at 2.
