Wow, I just had an epiphany. Imagine a suicide bomber who attacks other suicide bombers. Perhaps the NRA could explain how this could happen.

That is patently wrong. The gun is always the first thing that people talk about when there's a shooting. Not the person.

Not true. The first thing people talk about is how it's not the right time to talk about the gun.

People blame cigarettes for causing lung cancer, but that's not true!

It's the people that set the cigarettes on fire and stick them in their mouths that cause cancer.

If America was losing this many lives in airline plane crashes every year... airplanes would be grounded until peoples lives were ensured better safety.

If they were dying from mechanical failure, sure. But gun deaths aren't from mechanical failure (mostly).

If it was from pilot error that would be a completely different story, and if it was because pilots were deliberately crashing planes I can guarantee you that they wouldn't blame the airplanes.

It's about taking action, not arguing over semantics. My statement is true. If airliners were losing this many lives per year in plane crashes here in America, airplanes would be grounded until the problem was fixed. Yet in this scenario children are being murdered while innocently going to school to become better citizens here in America, and yet we can't do a damn thing to fix the problem...

You seem to be someone who is "in it" just for the sake of the argument, not someone who actually cares about what they post. But, for the hell of it, I'll give you a chance to explain your solution to the problem... if you so choose to.

This put a smile on my face. I give it a like. (I have Aspergers and sometimes we are referred to as "little professors".) Yes, I have an odd sense of humor, but I like that too. :lollipop:

There are those that have Aspergers, and then there are another group whom will pass the test given to detect Aspergers. These are also a very large percentage of another group identified by Dr. Keirsey.

No. The issue is that we disagree about how to fix the problem.

The problem is children dying, yes?

Arguing over why those children are dying is not semantics. That's like arguing over why a car won't start. To fix the problem we first need to figure out why the problem is happening. I disagree that the problem is happening because of guns. Guns are part of the problem, but they're not the reason.

I agree that guns are part of the problem. Mental health is part. Bullying is part. Absent parents and role models is part. Modern communication methods are part. We should be working as a society to correct all these parts of the problems. Guns laws are one piece that needs to be addressed. This doesn’t mean outlaw all firearms, but we need to start trying reduce the ease of certain types of firearms and ammunition accumulation by wackos.

Guns are, at least, part of the problem, mainly because the NRA is a powerful lobbying machine that keeps our congress from passing even reasonable gun laws. Hell, shortly after the 2017 Las Vegas shooting congress had to sideline a bill they were caught running through that was pro NRA. After 58 people were killed and 422 were wounded they showed us who they are working for, and it's not for the safety of American citizens. Sick bastards.

Mental health is also an issue. Partly because nobody gives a crap, and partly due to states being strapped for cash. Ronald Reagan showed us how much republicans care about the mentally ill back when he was governor of California, and studies consistently show that their states have some of the worst mental health care in America. Ironic that they always point to mental health care on all gun issues yet don't give a crap to actually get their politicians to work on shifting more money... to mental health care.

Sadly too many people post the same tired old talking points yet don't take any action. These people are also part of the problem.

I could go on all day, I will leave it here though as it covers the main two issues that always come up in these discussions.

Abso-fucking-lootly wrong. It's the access to the guns.

After 9/11 air-travel became a lot harder with a lot more security and much harder access to the planes. Nobody blames the planes, but rightfully, access to them is restricted. Same applies to guns.

I just was watching a French spy TV show where the French government's version of the CIA gave money to an Imam in order for him to recruit a member of Al qaeda to assassinate a member of ISIS with a suicide bombing.

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. This right is indeed in the Constitution. The right to fly on an airplane or a dragon is not.

As I'm sure you're aware, what It actually says is, "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

That first part of that sentence is the reason for the right granted in the second part. If we want/need to have a well regulated militia (meaning organized by the State for security purposes) , I have no problem with members of the militia being able to keep arms associated with their duty. This notion that anyone gets to have all the guns and other arms that they want, just because they want them, is quite a step down the road to chaos than what is spelled out in the Constitution.

Which of these is related to the fact that black kids are 41% of youth gun deaths? Mental health or gun control?

The first part of the sentence is just one of many reasons we have the right to bear arms. This amendment by Madison whom also authored the Constitution was put in the Constitution to codify the rights of people to defend themselves, with force of arms when necessary. As you might imagine, much debate on the issue as to why we need it. As with all issues in law, the language reflects what is necessary to pass the bill into law. Not necessarily list all reasons for it. Justice Scalia wrote much about the original intent here, Heller? Is that case? So even if you eliminate the Militia, the original intent is many even without the Militia.

The main problem with schools is how we have turned them into a killing ground. Gun Free zone where the sadist can be assured of little to no opposition by unarmed occupants. You never see the sadist wack job attack a police station or a prison. No, damn near always a gun free zone or a place you can't get in with your arms.

Make a police station a gun free zone! Hot damn! I doubt is lasts the first week without those anti police complainers taking on the fish in that barrel. Way more satisfying for the sadist wanting to count coup!
But we don't do that. We make the children the easy mark, even though we know full well the inhumanity of some men that will misuse the misguided intent.

Funny, you quoted my post yet your question has nothing to do with my post (maybe slightly related, but... very slightly). Strange.
