Wild thought on my part, but I was thinking they will purchase another second rounding in memory of PA? As long as sis owns the team she could see this as a way to continue to allow his influence in the draft which he always coveted.
I can’t see Portland getting a second because they’d have to dip into their MLE to sign them. It worked last year because we pretty much had a full roster and could afford to do it. This year we’re losing multiple rotation players, it’s inevitable.
This isn't necessarily true. 2nd round picks can be signed for the minimum without using the MLE but you can only sign them for 2 years that way. By using the MLE to sign Trent to slightly more than the minimum we were able to sign him to a 3-year deal. Obviously we'd probably want to have control over a 2nd round pick for more than 2 years but that is an option if we were preserving the MLE.
Technically you're the one jumping the gun. Simons was brought in for a 2nd workout Tuesday before the draft, it's only Monday today. So last year was pretty similar at this point. Also, last year the Blazers tried to trade up because they thought other teams were going to try and jump them for Simons or pick him before hand since those other teams knew we brought him in for a 2nd workout. My guess is that they are trying to hide their interest in certain players to avoid having to worry about it this year.
Yes, but it doesn't for sure mean we'd lose them in two years. It could be that we'd have a better cap situation to lock them up longer in two years. I wasn't trying to say it made sense, just letting everyone know the details.
Something tells me Neil will do something big, i think he waited 3 years for this moment when the Warriors are beatable. He knows Dame's prime clock is ticking
Beating the dead horse here, but a forward who can defend, shoot and make decisions in 4 on 3's is who I want. Grant Williams and Darius Bazley both have the potential to do that.
Kevin Porter Jr., under the tutelage of Dame and CJ, would be the steal of the draft. Hoping he falls to 25!
