Btw I don’t know what it is but that’s now three press conferences in the offseason where Neil has looked stressed the fuck out. It’s just funny considering it’s the first time in awhile where his job isn’t seemingly on the line. Maybe he’s not used to all the work he’s doing now.
I think we resign Kanter. We made the Bazemore deal because Hood is either gonna get paid more than we can offer, or he told us no. Kanter was on Cowherd's show today and basically said he wants to be back. Offer him the most we can and move on. Then we can try to package Harkless and Meyers for something else.
Getting Kanter at the tax MLE would be a bigger steal than Nassir Little at #25. I think he’s just being diplomatic.
Celtics need bigs so it makes sense but both them and the Lakers are likely big game hunting first so I'd be surprised if he signed with either in the first few days.
Moneywise i don't think Lakers can offer more since they need around 10 players and he will be backup. Boston now I cannot see the fit on Stevens system. A similar player in Monroe hardly saw the court and although Kanter is better i don't see how he gets some major role. I think he will stay.
I think he gets 10 or 11 million per. So yeah if we had the full MLE we would be close enough IMO where we could land him. 1- 2 million short is one thing but 6-7 million per year difference is another matter.
I think the Lakers are gonna target brook Lopez first anyways. Once Milwaukie maxes out Middleton will they try to keep Lopez? They also have to make a decision on Brogdon.
Interesting quote in that Kanter interview “it’s a decision they need to make, whether they can afford me or not.” Doesn’t sound like someone about to take the tax MLE. Maybe we open up the full MLE though, we’ll see.
I think there is a good possibility that we end up with one of these to help hold down the center spot until Feb Kyle O’Quinn Kosta Koufos Ekpe Udoh Salah Mejri Marcin Gortat Zaza Pachulia Amir Johnson Mike Muscala Boban Marjanovic Ed Davis Robin Lopez
