I like Olshey! No interest in Blazer bashing on any level about now....things are frickin' awesome! You're all welcome to join me in maybe the most optimistic offseason as a Blazer fan I've had in a long time! I'm stoked....really stoked.....you want to see a trader Bob who constantly goes for the superstars and changes coaches like socks? You are a Houston Rockets, New York Knicks, Laker fan...hasn't really worked out any better than Portland staying the course eh?
The thing that always puzzled me so much about 2016 League wide (not just Neil to be fair), was why was everyone getting 4 year deals. So many guys got not only more per year than what seemed logical they also got, 2 years more... A whole bunch of teams decided lets lock ourselves in on average talent NBA players and it made little sense to me at the time, and still doesnt.
I really dont want my comments to come off like Im overly negative about the season, I loved watching them battle their way to the WCF’s, one of the best years I remember if not the best year (in terms of how much fun it was), just also saying there was more there to be had.
Here maybe this will end the discussion: I will never ever apologize for the shit show of 2016. And im one of them. So put it to rest.
Little side-track. Normally I'd hold this type of post back, but it's getting silly... What's with the die-hard Olshey and Stotts supporters (not all of you) being more volatile then the people who they claim "can't accept others opinions"? It's mostly one guy in here but it's not just him in general. "Eat crow" "Apologize to Neil" "You need to give props to Neil/Stotts" "Grow up" "Man up" And then those that use these phrases complain about that type of posting from others the minute they get the chance to... Nobody has a problem with people being supportive of Neil, even if they disagree. I'll probably tell you I disagree, possibly question your objectivity in regard to the topic, but it's all in the framework of discussion and debate. It's about the topic at hand, not what you need to do, say, or any sort of personal attack. If I said things along these lines, y'all would definitely call me out on it. I see these phrases used by the same people who self-righteously reprimand others for less, complaining about the constant "battles" that take place on this forum. If you don't want people saying things along the lines of "Grow up, apologize to me because you need to eat crow because Stotts sucks", then don't say these things! Thing is, I don't care if you say these things. I'll respond in kind, and won't hold a grudge, or take is seriously or personally. What I really don't understand is how the same people that say these types of things will complain about others who use the same phrases back to them. They immediately go into defensive mode and somehow others "can't accept other opinions" even though they're saying these things to those who have different opinions. It's so unnecessary. Either don't use these phrases and complain when anyone and everyone uses them, or don't complain when others use them back.
eat crow! enjoy the ride! I'm celebrating! the thing about battles bones...which I also have no interest in is that first you have to engage an enemy to have a battle....or just not engage them...my tactic is to just not have enemies...and a little homer gloating over some demonstrable results is to be expected after years of doubt and snark about the Blazers....I'm having fun with it...don't be such a snowflake
I generally stop reading a post once I read some of those aforementioned phrases. I will laugh my ass off, but I won't take the post seriously.
I've always hoped that you would be the one to do that; instead of getting involved in disputes with the guys who are criticizing him.
I genuinely dont have problems with @CupWizier but I do find it odd when people criticize the team then he comes at the poster, or says he’s a “fan”, which usually implies he believes people criticizing them arent fans. Why not just provide his take on why he thinks those guys deserve “praise”, or why the criticism is wrong. Just saying he’s a fan, or he’s annoyed that people are being critical doesnt add much to the conversation either. I get it, a few of us can be way more critical than we need to be at times, Im as guilty as anyone, but Ive definitely been frustrated when I feel like I am presenting criticism that isn't far fetched and the response seems to be, well Im just not a fan and he’s a better fan then me or whatever. Again I dont have any beef with cup, on this forum he’s more than allowed to have his opinion, and discuss it and if he thinks Im a bad fan or not one at all even though Im on a Blazer fan site everyday, thats fine, he can have it, but it makes it hard to have conversations at times, because rather than discuss my criticism, I have to prove my fandom in order to have a valid opinion.
When Harkless plays well he is very effective. Needs to be more consistent yes but I’m not sure they should get rid of him unless it’s a solid upgrade.
Here’s my problems with Harkless and again its my opinion feel free to disagree. Average shooter for starters, seems to only try when he starts. His aggressiveness is way too off and on. Basically he’s like Mr. Unreliable, but shows flashes every 10 games where you’re like oh thats why he’s playing. He could be a very solid 7th man type but his personality seems to not allow that and as a starter he’s just not good consistently enough. I think its some what exaggerated when he and Aminu play together because their pretty similar in being inconsistent, and way too often both are off. Wouldnt mind at all if Harkless accepted the role of giving solid energy whenever he’s on the court and playing a mostly bench role probably would still get 20ish minutes a night, he just hasnt seemed to be able to lock in to that.
Personally right now I think we're going to see a significant shift really soon roster wise and it's a moot point to evaluate how we stack up because we don't have the team set yet. I'd guess there are still guys we've got on the trading block.
They could very well be at the beginning of the season, but i see no way they are both on this team next June
I think Olshey will act quickly to find value before other teams fail to sign bigger targets and go to cheaper options....I think he's on a mission to win now...he said he's going to fill the roster with trades so....I expect trades. Mo and Meyers are the only expiring deals we have left on the roster...that tells me they're outta here
Pretty much. Olshey mentioned most of their moves will come via trade and those two are the most obvious candidates to get dealt.
My annoyment is the constant same old "criticisms" done by the same people and almost on a daily basis i could probably pull out almost identical posts from over a year ago that are still being posted. It makes this forum very stale. I had a friend read through some posts awhile back and he asked me why so many posters dislike the Blazers.
