Unless we do it before the new league $$ takes effect, we'd need to include skal after july 1 to match new salary
I bet Collins is who Cleveland would want as "filler". He Makes the numbers real close. But it would get it done IMO. It is too much for me.
Yeah, I thought of that when I posted. I deliberately left him off my list of excluded filler. I’d do a deal for Love that includes Zach, but it would have to send a first round pick back to Portland.
With Celtics offering a max contract to Kemba Kanter is more likely to stay if it was just between Blazers,Lakers and Celtics as the report suggested.
A first round pick from them would be nice but doubtful from their end as they are in a rebuild stage. I think we really need Collins right now with Nurk out. He may not be as good of a shooter or rebounder as Love but he is more versatile. He prefers to play center but can play PF as well. If the trade somehow gets us the full MLE then I might change my mind, but it won't
The Laker talk shows brings up scenarios that prefers getting a couple 10 million dollar players vs one really good one and Kanter is mentioned. But I think they would almost for sure try to get Brook Lopez back first. They need a stretch 5 to give LBJ and AD space. I would think Kanter is farther down their list.
Okay, you convinced me. Make Trent Jr. the filler, add a protected first to Cleveland and make it happen.
The trade would also save us enough money to enable us to use the big MLE (and sign Hood). Would that alter your opinion?
Dude is a great fit with Lebron. I don't think they get him, but if they miss out on the big names, grabbing Bev and Danny Green would be good for them.
I have read that we only needed to cut about $2 million (a little more after the Bazemore trade) to qualify. This trade saves about $4.5 million. Maybe what i read is wrong; I know it surprised me.
I think we have to get way lower than that to get access to more in the MLE, from what I have been reading. Not sure of the amount, but sounded like we need to cut $15-20M in order to go from $5.7M up to $9M MLE.
Ukrainefan was talking to GhostofPGA about the suggested Harkless-for-Bjelica deal from earlier in the thread. Nope--check out my post in the "hope for the offseason" thread--it details all the existing salaries, and shows that the full MLE can be accessed with just a small salary reducing trade, assuming Chief is not re-signed.
