Or how about instead of Batum we go after Marvin Williams? Moe or Meyers works straight up or packaged together.

Not a chance in hell. They need to add an asset or two to get that done. Maybe Bridges. Would have liked their lotto pick, but not necessarily PJ Washington with it, so it immediately loses value, without getting to choose for yourself.

I do imagine that Charlotte, if they lose Kemba, will try hard as they could to scrap remaining pieces on their roster. No need to be near luxury tax with a garbage roster. So it does seem like a good place to look to grab pieces from.

Can't see Charlotte taking both Moe and Meyers, and can't see adding $5M in payroll to swap Moe for Marvin, so I don't see it happening. But he is the kind of player I envision replacing Aminu at PF...just not at $15M.

If somehow we were able to convince Hood to stay for the Tax-MLE and coupled with the addition of Bazemore, I'd trade Harkless for Marvin in that scenario. Sign a few vets to fill out the roster. Re-sign Layman for SF depth.

    Dame/Simons/Vet PG
    CJ/Bazemore/Trent
    Hood/Layman/Little
    Collins/Williams/Skal
    Nurk/Leonard/Vet Big

I actually like that quite a bit if trades for a star player don't pan out.

Do we know when the double draft is (HS kids enter)? I would hate to lose our first rounder that year.

    Hell NOOOOO!

We'd have to get both Miles Bridges and at least one future 1st round pick to even get close to considering that.

Why? all that will do is push us back to when hs kids were drafted and many were drafted strictly on potential and not much data to evaluate. At least the one and done rule allows teams to see a player in a more competitive atmosphere and helps separate the pretenders from contenders. If players don't like having to go to college then make it easier for them to go a year to the G league. Flooding the NBA with HS kids will set the league back.

The pick becomes more valuable to other teams though.

Well, I'm not sure how it will make it more valuable as it will cause a bigger chance for error on the selection. I would rather have a draft pick when a player plays one year of college rather than just HS and AAU ball. I bet this past year that if the draft were done a year prior to when many of the players were just coming out of high school the selections would have been much different. If Ja Morant was drafted right out of high school, he may not have even been a lottery pick as he wasn't heavily recruited coming out of high school.

If they want to draft high school players then do a supplemental draft and make them play a year on a 2 way contract and the team can convert that to an NBA contract the following year. That way it does allow a HS player to get to the NBA and bypass college. If a player wants to increase his stock, he can then choose the route of one and done.

It'll make it more valuable because there are plenty of teams willing to take the risk and gamble, and there will be more blue chip guys available in that draft.

I'm not saying I like the rule change, I am saying when it goes into effect I want a draft pick.
