Awesome signing, I thought he was likely gone for more.

I think many are worrying too much about our front court, it will be fine.

We got Meyers, Collins, Skal at Center: until Nurk returns.

Harkless, Hezonja, Jake, Little at PF.

I'm fine with our bigs to start the season. So glad we kept Hood and traded for Baze. You can never have too many wings in today's game.

If there is an awesome big available like Kanter last season sure, do it.

Otherwise I'm eager to see what this group looks like on the court!

Off the top of my head did you not watch the Charlotte game where he scored 16 points in the 4th quarter alone or the 4 OT game in the playoffs where he won the game in the 4th OT?

Does this eat into our MLE?

It's our whole MLE unless we free up a bunch of money somehow, in which case we can get up to $3.5 million more (unless Woj's numbers were right not Quick's numbers). If we opened up enough space in a trade we could use the BAE too which is about $3.6 million. Those two can't be combined and using either one hard caps us at $138.9 million. Don't use either one and we can only sign remaining roster spots to minimum contracts except Jake who we could pay any amount too up to the max.

Ah okay. I thought we were using 150% of previous salary rule but we weren't.

I don't think we could have got anyone better with MLE anyway. Hood is good.

Turner helped us win game 7. Happiest day of the year seeing his ass off the team.

Hood is much better. But I worry.

I remember both games. Doesn't mean I have to like him. Nice try, though. Am I supposed to like him because of that? Is that like a requirement? Didn't think so. My opinion stands.

So glad he is here and for two years. He'll get better and more in sync with the roles that Stotts chooses.

Is it possible we have a trade and woj knows while quick doesn't? I didn't see a retraction or correction from woj about the 8 mil number

Could be that we agreed to pay Hood the full MLE or tax MLE, whatever is available so the contract is 12-18 million. We are working to do a salary dump trade but it may not happen.

We'd probably like to stay under the tax if possible.

I could see NY or some other teams willing to take on Harkless once more free agents are off the board.

The max we could offer Hood without using the MLE was $4.16 million.

You said you weren't impressed by him. Other than the OKC series and getting hurt in Game 7 against Denver he played really well for us.

I've been wondering that. Normally I'd believe Woj 100% over Quick but in this case I think it makes too much sense that it's the Tax-MLE so who knows.

I thought about this as well. But if this were the case, I also feel like we needed a center (like Kanter) more. I feel like Kanter would have taken the bigger exception if we’d have offered it. So, I’m inclined to think we are offering the taxpayer exception to Hood, even if we clear more space. But who the hell knows....?

Yeah, and it's kinda weird that it's not even the non-Tax MLE (which would start at 9.258M). Even if you said they were splitting up the non-Tax MLE among a couple of players (which they're allowed to do), it doesn't super make sense that you'd only leave (9.258-7.805=1.453)M on the table for another free agent. You're better off just using one of the unlimited Vet Min deals, unless you wanted to keep an MLE length (4 years, vice 2 for the Vet Min) available for a cheap player who'd sign for more than 2 years (like Layman did). Jontay, maybe?

What's the max we can offer him next year given that we'll have early bird rights?

It depends on the average salary for this season. It will probably be around $10 million.

I really like Rodney and I was hoping to keep him more than Kanter.

I'm convinced that all we need to do is get another star on the team and Dame would win him over. Just take the risk, even if we're not on their list.
