"We got shooters!" That's some nice insight by this future NBA analyst. Actually, he knows his on-court life just became much easier.
well, swish3 said Meyers was going to bring the 2020 championship to Portland. Being in a Heat uniform certainly makes Portland better
I was driving and couldn't post when I heard the news and haven't read through the comments yet. HOLY SHIT! Olshey is on fire! I just want to state that I really appreciate Jody Allen so far. This kind of move almost guarantees we will be in the tax again this year and everything Olshey has said about her being willing to spend money has been true so far. I think it really helped Olshey to have more freedom to make moves without having to get Paul's input too. That isn't a knock on Paul, he was a fantastic owner that we were lucky to have. Even if you don't really like Whiteside or Bazemore, Olshey just got both of them for ET, Harkless, and Leonard WITHOUT having to attach any assets! Are you kidding me? They're both expiring deals too. If Nurk is healthy by the trade deadline we have a couple of big trade chips too for going after a Blake Griffin type. On top of all that we've improved this year while still having all the flexibility we started with next summer. I'm so freaking stoked right now!
There's an old saying that what teams are selling to their fans is hope. A team with Nurk hurt, Kanter/Hood/Curry gone and Aminu/Hark/ET being key members of the rotation was not a hopeful situation. Instead of hiding behind "we made the WCFs!", Olshey was the most assertive we have seen him in a long while. I'll say it: kudos to him.
I really dont think so. Honestly i just think neil has transformed his priorities with the team making a deep playoff run
This is such a good deal it’s ridiculous. We got rid of Mo Harkless, who barely seemed interested most of the time, and Meyers Leonard, who never developed a post move in 7 years, and got back a double-double player who one year led the NBA in blocks and one year led the NBA in rebounding. You have to be crazy not to love this deal.
Let's see. CJ tried to recruit Whiteside to the Blazers in the past. Mo and Meyers are expendable, and I doubt his closest friends on the team. I don't think that was a negative tweet.
Whiteside shot 45% at the FT line last season. But he shot 70% the season before. He's all over the map in more ways than one. The good news is that he's consistently good on his FG%. He shot 57% last season, way better than any Blazer starter.
When would the earliest that could happen. I wonder if that is Olsheys plan. Maybe see how Whiteside plays and decide what he wants to do whether its keeping him or trying to get someone like Love. Love of course is the better fit next to Nurk, but we dont know when Nurk will come back or how long it will take him to adjust to games.
