it's the kind of speculative "observation" that often leads to unfounded criticism down the road. Surely you can see how that might be the case.
I'm bummed. Love the way he became part of the team, how he stepped up No way would the Blazers win a playoff series without him.
not really. Your anology wasn't even close to what I insinuated. again 22mill diff vs 1.5 mill diff. And of course its a speculation. aren't all inferences as to "what could have been"? Sigh.... Im just gonna leave it at this, which was how I left the original OP.. Im not upset in the least....
Dude, you can't start a post off by saying we should trade Trent for cap space and then expect anyone to think the rest of your post means anything worthwhile. You flat out said Olshey could've made it work if he wanted to. That doesn't imply anything negative towards Olshey?
Let's ignore the (clearly hyperbolic) analogy. It's incidental to the point. Plenty of speculative "what could have been"s are perfectly reasonable. We could have drafted Durant instead of Oden. We could have not given Roy a max extension. We could have not matched Crabbe. etc. Those are all things we had complete control over. Speculation over "what could have been" had the team made a better choice in those circumstances makes sense. What frustrate me--and what your "observation" could easily lead to--are the kind of "what could have been"s that are not fully in the team's control. For example: --"We could have had Paul George here if Neil would have simply been willing to offer CJ to the Pacers!" I've seen that criticism leveled many times, though we have no way to know if it's actually true. Still, people convince themselves that hypotheticals are undeniable reality, and they go from there. When you say, "It's been proven that Neil could have signed Hood and Kanter and also traded for Whiteside, and we could have had all three", when in all reality we have no idea if it was actually possible to convince Hood to sign for 4.16M, then you are opening the door to that same type of unfounded criticism of Olshey if something doesn't quite work out this season.
got back and read. I didnt start it out with that. And no it doesn't imply anything negative when I said im not upset in the least. Pretty much done with this convo now.
Really???, Follow the damn thread if your going to jump in on it. The bold font is because im getting upset at those that are missing that I posted it. Being upset at people missing my comment is not the same as being upset based on my comment. Is English really this difficult? My Gawd, this is getting annoying.
oh for fucks sake.... Enjoy the day people... not gonna let you all ruin it for me based off of one simple observation that so many want to knitpick at while completely dismissing the second half of my post. Knock yourself out...
Enes said” Sounds to me they our team felt as if he was not a must sign since he is absolutely god awful on defense, i love kenter coming off the bench but he is a defensive liability to be a starter
Hood was the one that put his money where his mouth was. Actions speak louder than words. I appreciated what Kanter brought to the team, but I won’t miss him.
Wish we could have kept Kanter. Loved his toughness in the playoffs, and his enthusiasm for the team. Good guy.
He loved Portland but all he cared is to play for a winning franchise. Boston paid him more and boston is closer to Europe via flights. At end Boston was his obvious choice, i dont buy that family Portland bullshit its all about business, Rodney hood I knew would stay why? Not because of rodney himself but because of his father. His father said after season” Rodney finally found a home he fells reborn not lost and depressed anymore. The group of guys he is around now and a winning franchise is more important for personal mental health than extra millions playing in a depressing situation, my son has found himself again in Portland “ So his daddy also had his back to resign in Portland
Kanter doesn’t really deserve the benefit of the doubt. He panders to every teams fan base he’s on and then throws the team under the bus when he leaves. I’m sure he’s a good guy at his core, but he needs to chill.
