I remember there were concerns about Marcus Canby coming here and he would poison the well. Ill that needs to be done is for fans to chant Hassan Whiteside, and he is butter!
I'm not concerned at all. Go back and watch that video of him reacting to the trade. The guy is fucking pumped. He has been on a shit team for years. He's a good player. We are so lucky to have him until Nurk comes back. This makes it so that we can still have a great start to the season. This was a masterful trade and anyone who thinks otherwise is questionable at best.
Perfection? Please let me know where ANYONE mention anything about perfection or anything close to it. As for body of work, I take his entire body of work into consideration. Like a grand total of 20 playoff wins in 11 years as a head coach. 4 of those wins are courtesy of Simons going nuts against SAC or the Blazers would have played the Warriors in the 2nd round this year. 11 years....20 wins. Not sure how much more body of work someone wants.
I think this will be the strongest test the Blazers “culture” will see. I know most people had their issues with ET, Moe, ML, and Aminu but they were all young, they all bought in and they all said yes we will fall in line, we will let Dame lead, when things go bad we will trust him. This year will be the strongest test the team faces in regards to that. Bazemore is an older player, Whiteside is an older player that Miami fans are ecstatic to be rid of. I know Portlands been the “reclamation group” for several players the last few years but this feels different to me. Its not a bunch of young guys trying to figure out there way in the NBA its older guys on expiring deals who want their last payday. Im not saying it’s going to fail, Im just saying I think its going to be very interesting how things pan out, because I think many of us assume oh guys come here get ingrained in the culture and love it, but the culture will probably change, guys like ML and ET and Aminu part of their role was to ease guys into the culture to befriend new players and support them. Talent wise I think our roster looks much better, but its going to be a much different year with so many new faces and some old ones who were frustrating on the court but good off the court.
You're already contradicting yourself. You can't claim to use his entire body of work and say that is 20 playoff wins. Now you're speculating on "what-ifs" and using that against Stotts. That's the definition of not looking at his total performance and body of work. This is an incredible misrepresentation. Most "experts" and posters on here continually predict the Blazers missing the playoffs based on their talent level. And they are continually wrong, and we've finished 3rd the last two seasons. Stotts is a big part of that. And since I already know what your lame response will be, let me cut you off. If we won in spite of Stotts and because of Lillard, then Lillard should get the blame for lack of playoff wins.
Miami fans are pissed because their team overpaid to keep a guy on a team that they never should have kept. It made no sense at the time. They were paying him star money but he's not the kind of player that can carry a team. He was at his best when Wade and Bosh were still there. Wade left and it was up to him to carry the team, which he's just not that kind of player.
Ive spoken to a few Miami fans and no they’re pissed because they thought Whiteside chased stats (blocks) instead of playing good defense. They thought he would pout when he didnt get his way, and they thought he only played hard when he felt like it. Some of those things have been said about other guys Portland has brought in. Im in favor of the move dont get me wrong, I just think this year will be a very interesting test for the Blazer culture. Its not a 23 year old that hasnt been paid before, its a 30 year old who’s got his money.
Sigh. An "Unmotivated Stat-Chaser" doesn't generally lead the league in rebounds per 36, like he did just last year.
Yep, they resign him a couple years back for 98million 4 years. They must of really hated his contribution to the team and chemistry.
I'm sure you've got a point. Go ahead, get it out. Yes, he's immature. As I've explained, Miami's culture is based on DISCIPLINE, ours is based on SUPPORT. There may be a bump or two in the road, but I expect very few problems. I also expect us to being an average or above average rebounding team instead of dead last, which we would very possibly be without him (and Nurk).
Miami fans....not sure if you guys have noticed but Miami fans are at the disco...not the game...the Heat have a terrible home court ...and the worst radio broadcast guys I've ever listened to....it's the opposite of Portland...
