I don't want to put too much stock into Summer League, but the value of our young core could rise with a strong performance from Simons, Trent, Skal, and Nassir. I'm still unsure if we should go all-in by trading away potential stars (major Drazen and Jermaine flashbacks) for established ones already. I do think Neil waits until Baze and Hassan's contracts are able to be moved and a month or two of regular season action passes to see just how close we are to contention as well as the internal development of the aforementioned young core plus the likely starting power forward in Zach Collins. The worst thing we could do is move a player like him now and miss out on his (potential) breakout year (ie: Pascal Siakam). Lastly, and most importantly, we have NO idea on what Nurk's timeline looks like or how long it'll take him to regain his pre-injury form. It may take a full season so going all in this year would be a waste. With Kawhi not joining the Lakers, there are no super teams in the NBA and it looks to be very much open for a plethora of teams to challenge for the title for the foreseeable future. We have maintained our cap flexibility with our summer moves to date and could make our move next summer. I know a lot of us don't want to wait, but we might have to given what we have in terms of assets (Young Core) and Nurkic.
Hey, we have Lillard and McCollum, they have Beverley and Lou Williams. Got to admire Kawhi for fucking with EVERYbody. Also can't argue with two Southern Californians getting to go home. Lakers-Clippers is going to be EPIC.
No team is going to say no to 5 unprotected firsts. Prolly the next logical move for CBA is to ban these sorts of trades
Kevin Love is probably the best idea now but he’s not that good anymore. We have a lot of promising young players who may make a step up in the upcoming seasons. Little, Simons and Collins give us good future. We need to remember we are strangled with Dame and CJ deals, we likely can’t add third contract of this magnitude as this will prevent us from building depth.
True but much of that is partially due to LeBron and Kawhi changing teams and the Warriors suffering mass injuries. Kawhi Warriors Warriors LeBron Warriors Kawhi LeBron LeBron
I would fucking love to get Love but at the same time i feel like getting Blake Griffin would really scare the other teams in the Western Conference. Lillard McCollum Hood Griffin Nurkic that's a hell of an offensive machine. You can't trap Dame&CJ because Griffin is a superb playmaker.
Both LA teams won't have any future assets if their current teams bust. These 21/22 draft picks I'd protect like crazy just because they're gonna become even more of a commodity in a year or so. I know the rush will be to keep up with the arms race, but I'd try to stay patient. Love is not the answer, neither is an overpaid Griffin-- PG just became available out of nowhere. You never know when these superstars will show up. Keep our assets for the right guy. I have my eye on KAT or Devin Booker.
San Antonio. Dallas. Miami. Cleveland. Oakland. Toronto. Not exactly hotbeds of previous basketball excellence. Aside from MIA, not hotbeds of free agency. Why not us?
17 was a super team, give you that. 16 and 18 they were down 3-2. Good for them for winning (no * from me), but let’s not say no one else had a shot. Even this year, they lost 4 games in the first two rounds and were down double digits in the 2nd half 3x in our 4-game sweep. Again, they pulled it out (heart of a champion and such) but they weren’t juggernauts.
