These religious theocracies are as radical as they come, and they view each American rather you are left, right, black, white, as infidels that need to be eliminated.

Actually they more often refer to all but the faithful as Kaffir. The first time I ever heard that used was a by villager where my team was to retrieve a hostage they held. They seem to hold the view that ransoming Kaffirs is a fair thing to do. Any way, he looked in the bag handed him, and declared, The Kaffir is worth more!
We took him anyway. It took a while to find out what the word means though. No internet in those days, but they get their morality for this from the Quran.

Not trying to play Devil's advocate, but it appears the British ship was violating maritime rules and safety regulations. Wouldn't we detain an Iranian vessel for doing the same?

Who would ever agree to grant Iran authority to police traffic rules in International waters?

This. You’re not playing devils advocate, you’re exercising basic logic.

We should all do the same before we let our government lie us into wiping another country off the map.

Standard operation procedure in most of the world, where International Shipping follows prescribed Traffic Separation is to warn a vessel on VHF Channel 16 that they are not in compliance with the rules of the Traffic separations zone. Check your coastal pilot and make an immediate correction. Usually done by a patrol boat or Aircraft.
Never heard of incarcerating the Ship not involved with an accident.

Standard operating procedure is to stay the fuck out of places you’re not supposed to be.

You wake up with a hard on this morning jonny?

Naw, I have been warned a couple times due to seeking the wind rather than the separation.
When explained this has been granted with the warning to keep a sharp look out.

Not trying to be a hard on. I just think this whole Iran thing is bullshit. Why do the US government and their allies suddenly have a penchant for violating Iran’s airspace and waters? Seems to have coincided nicely with our failed nuclear talks with them. It’s funny how that works. I think we’re seeing a game plan at work.

    Absolutely!
I think it will play until the Iranians people kick the Mullahs out.

But I believe you are incorrect about Iran's waters. I am quite sure it is International waters. Has been for a long time.

    Strait of Hormuz.jpg

Here is a navigation chart of the Strait of Hormuz. Let me point out the bullshit in the report. See the purple arrows right above the UAE territory. Iran is the north and East.
If the British tanker were in the wrong lane as reported, the outbound lane then they would have strayed closer to UAE territory than Iran. Irans waters are on their side of the shipping lanes, East and North of the purple arrows.

It is more likely if no southbound shipping were comming, the British Ship short cut the 150 degree turn in the strait to save distance, time and stay the fuck out of Iranian waters.

It seems like we are purposely poking the hornet's nest with a stick, seeking a reaction that would justify war. It's pretty obvious, especially considering the long time Iranian warhawks in power right now. John Bolton just got the biggest erection of his life today.
