@oldfisherman should be leading this thread. :)

Anyone interested in getting together for a fishing trip?

Maybe a Charter for some Salmon, or a simple meet up on the Clackamas river or something?

    What do you prefer?
    Ocean?
    River?
    Lake?
    All of the above?

    Who is down?

I like all of the above, but limited time is usually a factor in not getting a line in the water more often.

I prefer boat, but do all of the above. A boat provides more privacy and allows you to find pockets.

I trout fish in mountain streams mostly. Love to go hit up the high lakes looking for goldens or cutthroats when I have time though. I’ve yet to catch me a grayling up there but it will happen. I don’t eat much trout, mostly release. Lower lakes and reservoirs here are great for crappie, perch, walleye, pike. A boat is preferable. Ice fishing the reservoirs in the winter time is a fucking blast. Post up for a few days with a couple buddies, get all fucked up, talk shit and slay copious amounts of future fish tacos.

I grew up fishing in southern Oregon on the Rogue and Umpqua rivers mainly. I just got done with a 6 month stint of living by myself on an island off the Florida gulf coast. I caught a lot of Sea Trout, Redfish, Spanish Mackerel, Sting Rays, and Flounder. I practically lived off of fish tacos. That and Blue Crab.

I don't think fishing is animal cruelty in general but I was recently at the Crawfish festival in Tualatin and they had a little pool sponsored by Cabela's stocked with fish for kids to catch and release over and over again. It was pretty fucked up. I do think that even in the wild catch and release when you could eat it is kinda weird.

Heck yeah. I love fishing. I haven't done a whole lot of it. Mainly river fishing in central/southern Oregon and at the beach. I threw a line with double hooks once and caught two trout. I have also done some crawfishing.

There's nothing like catching a nice red side trout, and pushing a stick up through its rear and out the mouth and cooking it over a fresh fire.
When the fish is done pull the stick out and its completely clean and ready to eat with fingers.

Ive been doing annual fishing trip with a number a friends for many moons and when someone new joins us they must swirl down, a 80z glass of Knob Creek then eat the two eyes of an uncooked fish.
Then they are part of Wallydom!

    Duh, love it all.

Untill this year, trout was my least favorite local fish to eat. Just invented a trout recipe, by accident, that will knock your socks off.

Soak the trout overnight in a brown sugar dry brine. Instead of using salt or soy sauce, use Zatarans crab boil. It has all the salt and seasoning you need.

Smoke the trout. When almost done smoking, glaze the trout with Mae Ploy sweet chili sauce. Continue smoking untill trout hits 160 deg.

I should add, I prine and smoke the trout whole, but with the skins off. Fillets will also work.

Trout is awesome....not good if the fish is too big though...gets mealy..my favorite is cutthroat trout ...ruby red flesh tastes like mild salmon...not large fish usually though and like to hide under log snags...hatchery trout are good fresh and around 12 inches size wise...my wife cooks them with sweet chili sauce and tons of garlic and Chinese marinates...delicious. Steelhead to me is not as delicious. I like Bass but it's a pain to scale....
