I somewhat agree with your first point that too often innocent people are hurt. I wouldn’t say “it never is though”. Most of the time the violence is directed at the right people but most isn’t enough. Sometimes is too often. The second part, that they aren’t risking anything and are only doing it for their egos is totally incorrect. They have been beaten up, and arrested. They risk retaliation by the white pride people, the police, and even people who are not on white pride but who are simply anti-antifa. As far as why they do it, I’m sure it’s ego for some but many have sincere convictions and believe they are fighting the good fight and standing up to fascists and nazis. Anyway, I don’t condone because I don’t want everyone to have the right to decide who is worthy and who is not worthy of a beatdown. But I don’t mind seeing the actual white pride/nazi fucks getting bloodied.
Antifa is a name they gave themselves, not a definition. They are dangerous, delusional scumbags and anarchists with the objective to assault and cause damage. I could call myself "Man with the 10" cock", doesn't make it true.
Oooh got me good. Does it feel weird to call everyone you disagree with a Nazi sympathizer? How many people have the Proud Boys lined up on the edge of a trench and shot lately? The proud boys may be complete dipshits but your overzealous use of the term nazi is a false equation. You’re justifying violence against people you disagree with by using an exaggerated strawman. I’m not willing to cash in my critical thinking at the threat of someone implying I’m a nazi sympathizer. Try using your McCarthyism on someone who hasn’t studied it, maybe you’ll be able to shame them into agreeing with you.
Operation Iraqi Freedom was called “Operation Iraqi Freedom” lol. Let that one sink in for a minute. People can name shit whatever they want, it doesn’t always define their actions accurately.
I only call Nazi sympathizers, Nazi sympathizers though...so....not sure what you’re talking about. I call white supremicists Nazis as a loose term. Do you take everything literally? Cuz that must be hard. You think when someone calls a racist a Nazi he/she means they line them up along a trench and shoot them? Hm. That seems weird. I mean, I know they might want to do that, but trenches are kind of a hassle to schedule all your assaults and murders around.
Until you show me violent antifa events not associated with opposing fascist issues - this is just talk. Can you? (I honestly do not know, I really thought this was it, a collection of people publicly opposing fascist organizations). Do you have anything that shows otherwise? If so - I would certainly be against these instances as I said - I am not for violence for the sake of violence - but so far, all I have seen is that these people only come to publicly oppose fascist organizations.
I'm a layman of antifa, but every time I hear about them it's negative. Like assaulting a right-wing journalist, or beating elderly men with crowbars, or disrupting traffic for no apparent reason. From what I can tell they're just a bunch of fucking idiots who use their "anti-fascist" name as an excuse to disrupt and assault people. They're no better, and no less extreme, than the groups they're supposedly against.
These examples are disgraceful, I agree. I have only heard about them before as people that come to protest fascist events. I have no problem with protesting fascist events at all.
They chalk everything they do up to “anti-facism”. So once again you’re only argument is that they say they are doing something good, so they must be. Well, they’re lying. How about that?
Either that - or the opposite argument is that everyone that opposes fascists you call antifa even if they are not violent. Chicken, egg?
Nice try with the Jedi mind tricks, let’s stay on task though. Immature, jobless adults with nothing to lose aren’t ‘fighting facism’ by hitting people with pipes and destroying bystanders property. You and @calvin natt can keep running your mental gymnastics to try and justify antifas bullshit, but no matter how loud you scream “nazi!” you won’t make it ok to assault people, threaten them and destroy their property. Let’s just be clear: There were no Nazis rallying downtown Portland this weekend. Deep down you guys align yourselves with the same ideologies as antifa members so you feel the need to justify their abhorrent actions by making exaggerated claims of nazism and facism against the frat boy douchebag club called proud boys, who your guys were protesting against. With every protest the proud boys look like bigger douches, antifa looks less heroic and more like children who’s parents aren’t home, and your defense of them becomes more perplexing.
Does everyone that goes to protest fascist events call themselves antifa? Are all of them violent? I have no fucking problem with people opposing fascist events and nor should you (do you?). Unless only those that call themselves antifa are violent - you are just wrong.
I was quite clear in singling out antifa. That’s why I kept referring to them as antifa. “They’re not all violent though!” Boo fucking hoo. If someone’s part of a group that acts out violently then they can go fuck themselves. I get it dude. You’re down with their views, and that’s enough for you to turn your head when they fuck shit up. Conversation over.
Ok. I’ll go back to calling them Nazis. Whatever makes you feel comfortable justifying and defending your boys. Call them whatever you want. White nationalist, white supremicists, Nazis, Proud Boys, it’s all the same. They a verrrry “proud” of their whiteness. And 10/10 times when someone feels the need to march and protest or whatever the fuck the proud boys do about being proud of their whiteness, they all land in the same bucket.
I told you that I did not associate everyone that protest fascists as violent. Obviously - you seem to think that anyone that calls himself antifa is violent but are not willing to accept that you might be wrong and that there are some that call themselves the same because it literally means anti-fascist. I do not think that every conservative (or even most or many) is a fascist scum - even tho there are some that clearly are. But, it is loud and clear. You know because you know. Understood.
I never defended the proud boys, I just suggested that they aren’t nazis, and pretending they are nazis doesn’t justify destroying things and assaulting people. You however, have repeatedly run into a wall ACTUALLY defending antifa. Now that you’ve run out of ridiculous arguments, you’ve resorted to lumping me in with.....THE NAZIS!!!
I have said there is no excuse for Antifas actions. I have also said that if it’s a close call, I side with the non Nazis. Call me crazy but white nationalists aren’t my thing. And since both sides are fucked up, if I had to go with one or the other, I go with the non racists. I have not once justified Antifa assaulting anyone.
This is actually a misunderstood rule. There are no tie's in baseball. There is no rule that says tie goes to the runner. The rule states the runner must beat the ball to the base. If he doesn't he is out. No where in the rule book will you find the words 'tie goes to the runner'.
