How do you guys feel about this? I'm all OK with fully-authorized, law-abiding citizens owning weapons, but:

    1) The background check system (or lack thereof) seems totally broken and, in my opinion, needs to be completely revamped/modernized. I really hope Congress can get something done here.

    2) Automatic weapons need to be completely outlawed. Whether semi or full, I'm not certain, but there's no place in our society for these mass killing machines.

I like to bare my arms in the summer. In the winter sometimes I wear long sleeves.

Shoot, I was expecting a slightly more compelling response from you.

Did someone hack your account? Are you feeling ok?

But, really I agree with both your points, the background check system has failed and needs to be fixed terribly. Automatic weapons need to be fully banned from civillian use. Full autos already are, but semi automatics need to be included.

Good luck with that, but that is very unrepublican in today's party. Have you heard Moscow Mitch and his views on putting any new bills before the senate? He has stated he will not allow a vote on any bill unless trump pre-approves it which also prohibits any over ride of a veto by the president. Not exactly how a democracy is suppose to work and more like a dictatorship. Are you okay with that?

No hunter that knows his ass from a hole in the ground needs a semiautomatic or a high capacity magazine. That just makes it dangerous for honest hunters to be out in the woods. Anyone that knows the first thing about hunting carries a bolt action. The .240, 30-06, 7 mm and the .270 being the most common. I guess Weatherby makes some magnum sizes of the preceding calibers.
I was once in the woods hunting with a buddy when we heard a rapid succession of shots. We carefully avoiding hunting in that direction. Obvious loose nut.
A good hunter takes only one shot. If you're just moderate, you sometimes need two. I can't imagine needing more than three.
Some guys carry a .357 mag. or a .44 mag for varmint protection but I almost never carry one. My rifle is all the protection I need. Besides, I've got buddies with their own hunting rifles along for protection should I absolutely need it, some have larger bore rifles than mine.
    Knife? A Buck folding knife.

^This is what people should have guns for (and using similar guns for home protection I assume?). Everything else is unnecessary and serves no productive purpose outside our military.

You do realize that semi-automatic includes almost all pistols and quite a few hunting rifles?

Also, fully automatic rifles are illegal. Very few remain and they are heavily regulated.

This is the problem with most anti-gun discussions. People who don't know what they're talking about.

Why does anyone need a gun?

Yall really gonna shoot an intruder in the face if your house is getting broken in? Like you're legitimately gonna kill someone in cold blood?

No serious hunter takes a semi automatic hunting rifle with him because they are far far less accurate than a bolt action.
    Perhaps pistols should be revolvers.
Perhaps pistols should be outlawed. Why? Because you can hide a pistol and use it to sneak up on a victim whereas a rifle or shotgun is very difficult to hide. I'm pretty sure most suicides and drive-bys or done with semiautomatic pistols which tend to be inaccurate and often hit an innocent bystander.

A shotgun with bird loads will stop a motherfucker without killing them. That’s my philosophy. I wouldn’t want to be responsible for the death of another person, even if they broke into my house. And I can hunt birds with it.

2 yrs ago, I was walking home from work when a group of teenagers pulled up to me in a broke ass sedan. It looked like they were about to say something when the driver pulled out a BB gun and started shooting at me after rolling his window down. That shit looked like a real gun and scared the hell out of me forcing us to get up and move out of the neighborhood. That same day, they shot BBs at a construction worker down the street and it actually pierced his skin and got lodged in his neck.

When I told this to some colleagues, many openly said they would have shot back with a real gun had they been in my place and potentially killed a teenager.

Just no place in the world for this stuff.

You said yourself it looked like a real gun. So if you think you’re going to get shot for real, and happen to have a weapon yourself, you just stand there and wait for it? A teenager getting shot is unfortunate, but what in the actual fuck? Being a complete dipshit can get you killed in more ways than one, whether guns are involved or not.

Not to mention, a bb to a major neck artery or the larynx could potentially be deadly.

Some of my friends are avid hunters and they use crossbows rather than rifles.

It is quite the experience in the great outdoors of Alaska.

Someone pointing a bb gun at others will eventually have someone shoot back. Then the person with the bb gun will become a darwin award nominee.

If an intruder entered my house and I saw that he was armed, yes I would use my weapon to protect myself. I wouldn't at all want to kill someone. I wouldn't ever kill someone in cold blood, but there are intruders that would in a second, because they could care less about you as a person, thats why they have intruded. Im an old fart and will always defend myself regardless of age.
If the person wasn't armed and I felt I could communicate enough to rid him/her that would be great!
