It might be a case of short term memory issues for me. I realize the GOP and conservative media treated Obama with no respect whatsoever and its hypocritical that their now trying to play the “Trump deserves respect cause he’s the president”, card but I dont remember the everyday citizen reaction to Obama being as bad as the reaction has been to Trump. I dont remember riots and protests, and all the property damage, and stuff on election night when Romney lost like there was when Hillary lost. What’s scary going forward though is I really believe whoever loses in 2020 is going to lose it...
ah the great play ground defense used by almost every adolescent in this country. I know you are but what am I?
You are entitled to that opinion. I disagree with it however, just say Obamacare now 9 years after it passed with hard data showing it was a success overall and people in this very forum getting hot...
You forgot the main point. You likely don't remember Obama ever acting and doing the things trump has said and done either. Obama got flack for such serious offenses as wearing a tan suit and his wife was criticized for wearing a sleeveless dress. How he made it 8 years is shocking. How could a sitting president ever wear a tan suit?
Well I understand Trump had a history before being elected, but the protests started the day he was elected before he had done anything (as president). I think it plays into the whole, “witch hunt”, thing the right has espoused, because literally those who hated him and would do anything to get him out of office really had started that the second he was elected. Its certainly interesting though, and I understand your point.
Well, I would argue that there were 2 issues here: 1. The majority voted against him and yet he won. 2. It was pretty clear (and since confirmed) that there was foreign campaign to support him. The reality of the situation is that people were being upset because the minority vote getter that was helped by foreign interference (knowingly or not, I guess we will find out once this administration is out when there are not so many roadblocks to the inquiry) . If this is a bad thing, I do not know how, honestly.
I don't believe the protests and riots were of the electoral college, but of Trump. Had Hillary of won, those same people would not have been protesting Hillary because she won the electoral vote. The “russia” campaign and all that Im not really sure what to say or think about that. It seems like its very easy to find links that confirm my bias’ on the topics and its easy to find places that dont. I think the reaction though on elections night and shortly after played into the the whole, “Trumps a victim” of a crazy with hunt mob. -Im not saying I am on board with that, but I definitely understand why its easy for them to make that argument.
No it doesnt, it means that they’re out to get him and have been from the beginning. Which is not a hard argument for the right to make. witch-hunt /ˈwiCH ˌhənt/ noun HISTORICAL a search for and subsequent persecution of a supposed witch. INFORMAL a campaign directed against a person or group holding unorthodox or unpopular views
I believe it is a confluence of these items, but why wouldn't they when he was basically doing a long-form witch hunt by himself to Obama? Seriously, how can anyone defend this person getting the same behavior he exhibited before?
I am not defending him getting that behavior I even said its hypocritical for the right and conservative media to play the “respect our President”, card when they didnt do it for Obama. I just also think the reaction on election night and shortly after was way over the top and played into the hands of the GOP and conservative media outlets.
Could be a multitude of issues, take your pick. - selective memory loss (as mentioned above) - blind partisanship - underlying feelings of racism/sexism
Classic con man bait a switch...Trump is a carpet bagging snake oil cure all salesman...the kind that would get run out of town with his pants down from the local sheriff
If thats directed at me, for the record Im ok with whatever labels you’d like to give me. I am a flawed individual and would never try to say otherwise. I need to be better at all those things. Whatever my preconceived notions and slants are, I understand I have issues internally to address. Its a very complicated subject that IMO all humans struggle with.
