Hey guys, I was hoping to attend the meet and greet, but my wife yesterday purchased tickets to Maui leaving on the 2oth. She wants me to get out of town before my next TKR on 11/4. I was really looking forward to meeting those that i've been daily communicating with for a number of years, and some for almost 20 years. I hope you all have a great time at the Chat & Chew!
that does it, she's going alone! I covered 808 for nearly 30 years and we have a deep love for the Islands and people. It's really our second home. I love plate lunch too!
TBF...I know you are a young family but have you ever been to Hawaii? When I was asked many years back to cover the area I hadn't ever been, and I wasn't sure I would enjoy the territory, however, after a few trips the place and people tattooed a kind of hospitality and spirt of Aloha on me.
I haven't, I'm not much of a tourist though. I struggle relaxing long enough to go on vacation. It's a place I'll probably visit at some point though.
lol...I'm the exact same way! My wife has tried to get me on a cruise for years, without success. I think it I'd feel like I was in an airport course for days. No thanks! Plus everyone I know that goes on a cruise come back 10 pounds heavier.
Yes, there is a LOT of food on a cruise, but all it takes is a little personal discipline not to overindulge. We did our first one last summer and it was fantastic. Plus if you do one with several ports of call, you don't feel constrained at all. And I don't know about all ships, but the one I was on had 15 different decks, and lots of stuff going on on several of them at any given time. I'm telling you, listen to your wife, go on the cruise--you won't regret it.
That's what everyone says. So maybe for her 70th at end of June Ill take her on a short 3 nighter out of long beach, that hits Catalina and somewhere in Mexico. I'll let her know that the PortlandPpus talked me into it!
If that's what everyone says, then it's not just me talking you into it. But I'll gladly take the credit!
