It's not a lock by any means but they have a good enough team and they have Pop. Counting them out would be a mistake. But that is your opinion and i can respect that.

They've clearly shown they still retain the HEART. The rest will come.

He'll spend 5-10 minutes in a refs ear.

He is such a good coach because he is never happy.

The Spurs won tonight. He is pissed

    Nice take.
I agree they could get the ball going to the rim better. Hope they work on that. I also think having a better PnR center might help. Nurk would definitely help. I think they could have gone to the lob a bit better tonight? Not sure what the hang up was? Whiteside was open for lobs at times.

We had guys hitting jumpshots and driving well in isolation. The problem is when we can't hit jumpshots or isolate well, we don't get to the rim and have to settle for the jumpshots that we're not making.

Not to mention, I totally see Ant making huge strides this year which, alone, will elevate our team over what we were last season. I'd have said the same about Collins but his shoulder injury has kind of curbed my expectations. For now.

Dame was interesting game. Dame both shot them out of and back into it. It’s weird reading this thread, everything bad seems to be labeled, “Stotts (or Tolliver)”, everything good is “Dame!”. Fact is Dame went into forcing shots mode and helped them dig the 2nd half hole, he was I believe 3-18 at one point.

The entire 3rd quarter was a brick fest, some of coaching, but some of just guys not hitting very make-able shots.

All in all, good game glad they made it respectable towards the end, had clean looks Both Dame and Tolliver and just couldnt get them to fall.

It'd help, but my main issue is that our sets don't have actions designed to get guys going downhill unless it's through pick n roll. And some might argue that they do, but if we do we don't utilize it for long stretches where we settle for a bunch of jumpshots. There's a reason why our bench unit struggles to get anything within 15 feet, we don't have a Dame or C.J.

Ugh, I'm watching replay of that last shot. Hood put too much air on that last pass, allowing the Spurs defender to catch up to Dame and make it a tougher shot.

That's the thing, if jumpers were falling then those would all be good shots. But when they're not, we need to get to the rim to get something going.

I understand where you are going with this but a bunch of those jumpers were wide open good looks that didn't fall. heck some didn't hit the rim. I agree when that is happening then they need to take the ball to the hoop. But dame tried this also and was not getting calls. Neither was CJ. 3rd quarter was a tough quarter no question.

We are a pick and roll offense, and Whiteside has been a bad pick and roll threat. That is part of it.

What makes SAS so frustrating is its really hard to get calls against them (I posted it at half time), they are in the top 5-10 every year for opponents free attempts, the refs to me are scarred of Pops. I think they tried at times to attack but eventually if you’re getting hit every time and no calls are being made I can understand being tentative to go to the basket.

Read my post right before this. Sure, there's a lot of other things we can look at, like refs, but we control our shot selection. It's so frustrating for me when we settle for jumper after jumper after jumper when they're not falling. Get to the rim! Also, our bench unit needs designed sets to help them get interior shots. We don't have them, and we don't have an elite guard or elite post to simply give the ball to and let them go to work.

True, but we control our shot selection, we don't control the refs.

    A thought to savor.

    Dame's A/M tonight was .36 very dismal.
SA's PG was 1.60 Outstanding play.
All due to coaching from my seat.

Yes but at the same time you’re more likely to make a jumper than a shot going to the basket with LMA and Poetl both hitting arms and body. I get your point, when the Jumpers arent falling you to go towards the rim. I think thats where they really miss Nurk offensively, I also think they missed Zach down in there offensively too. He isnt the strongest guy but he’s got great footwork on post moves. I realize post ups aren’t neccesarily going towards the rim, but its still playing inside out. I thought they’d post Rodney more.
