Florida has no income tax......not sure but maybe no capital gains tax either....and Trump has about 3 dozen law suits pending in New York City....all the gangsters retire to Florida

One other idea I haven't seen yet: He still thinks, foolishly, I might add, that he has a chance of reelection. Becoming a "resident" of the biggest swing state could help his chances there.

Its a tax thing. Lots of (wealthy) people are doing this. Even not so wealthy people are doing this. Hell, I'll be doing something similar before not too long (Nevada). Places like California and NY are completely fucked. There is no advantage to make it your primary residence if you can afford to have a secondary living situation.
