Further testing is never good, considering they've had the MRI results for days now. If it was good news, it would be out, you never hold good news.
Or it's just precautionary. It would be stupid for them to let Zach play without doing everything possible to determine the likelihood of further injury.
It's not the fact that he's not playing. There was no way he was gonna play tomorrow. It's that they still don't have a timeline.
When they bring Moses back from the G league, it'll tell me it's going to be awhile...what a great move to pick him up from preseason. Might need the kid sooner than planned
I get that, but I think people are reading way too much into it. It could be as simple as a doctor saying I don't see any significant damage, but I'd like another set of images just to confirm it. You don't issue a statement on a timeline until the medical team is confidant that they have all of the information that they need to make a solid recommendation. OTOH, worst case, if Zach needs surgery and misses a good chunk or all of the rest of the season, that simply pushes Olshey to make a trade for a more established PF, which is something that a lot of folks around here favor anyway.
The way I look at it is, if its good news, it would have been out. So it's probably not good news, or at least not ideal news.
I understand your point of view, but if it was serious I would have expected Zach to fly back to PDX immediately for treatment. Keeping him with the team on the road trip makes no sense if he's seriously hurt.
I'm just in the wait an see mode. If it's a bigger injury, it sucks for Zach, but Olshey has options. It's not a Curry-type situation.
TRADE COLLINS! TRADE WHITESIDE! They both are injury prone cripples! Let's do like BGD wants, and get Kevin Love. He NEVER gets injured! (That doesn't really need green font, does it???)
Fortunately he is young. When he gets back an awkward thrust for a rebound can put him back on the bench. Hope Not.
I think there's a few things here, it could be serious but also not require surgery, which they may have said it's an injury that will just require it to be stabalized and it needs "rest" so flying home wont do any good. It could also be not all that serious. I still haven't heard anything concrete about it.
They've got to know what's going on. I think they are trying to figure out the best way to tell the fans that he's done.
Not necessarily. The initial prognosis may be really bad and they want to see if there is anything that can be done to have him out for less time. My guess is, he needs surgery, but they are looking for second opinions to see if he can rest it off for a few weeks and not require surgery which would put him out months.
