Nate is a way better coach after being defensive coordinator for team USA under those legendary coaches..he wasn't that well rounded when he was here...play his starters into the ground and never play his bench or trust them

Nate was good sure. But he was never great. And yes if some people think Stotts is rigid then they never paid attention when Nate was coaching. I can give him credit for playing Batum as a rookie.

bazemore is a better defender than Nas, herzonja is better, even Hood is probably better... and don’t forget, basically this entire forum wanted our former best on the ball defender traded: Aminu.

Can we get a win please. I’m begging, please win! I remember at one time the Blazers with Roy started 5-12 then the streak of 13 games happened in December. C’mon boys, we can do it. Let’s Go Blazers!

Stotts is very similar to McMillan at this point. Give the ball to your stars and have role players shoot 3-pointers. Don't run plays and if a role player has a huge mismatch just ignore it. Before the game, give a sheet to the other coach what defense we'll use.
Watch the Miami Heat play. Meyers Leonard is supposedly dumb as a rock but looks like he's been playing with them for years. This looks more like the motion offense that Stotts calls his.
Especially look at the plays at 0:48 (youtube time) and 1:55 that use Meyers.
The Blazers have a player in Lillard who somtimes draws 3 defenders. Our options should be more than Lillard forcing a shot or passing out for a 3 pointer. Where are the easy 2-pointers?

Nobody who has been paying attention ever considered Meyers "Dumb as a Rock". And yes he obviously has worked hard to get things together and make an impact.
He has always set good screens. We all know he can hit a shot. Looks like he added a couple post moves. Moving might have been the best thing for him.

Meyers Leonard easily had the highest IQ of anyone on last years roster. Basketball IQ is another story...

Pretty important couple of games for Nas and Hezonja regarding their immediate futures in the rotation, as I think they’re fighting for one spot once Melo arrives.

    This is a basketball foru
I’m referring to intelligence playing basketball. Most people don’t pay attention to what mental endeavors players are doing outside of basketball.
There were many people who paid attention to the games that wanted him gone because, to them, he did not mentally have the capacity to play in the NBA. They didn’t want him gone because he didn’t work hard, or that he wasn’t in shape, or have a bad attitude.

Seriously. Every player on the team picked his brain on what other players tendencies were. That is part of BBIQ. Try to keep up here. The dude almost single handedly kept the Blazers in Game four of the GS series. If you actually think he does "Not mentally have the capacity to play in the NBA" i will say it again. You are not paying attention at all.

The Meyers hate is strong in this one.

No Dejounte Murray tonight. That's huge for our guards.

God who knows this year. You can have Steph, Klay, Draymond, Dlo, Fox, Bagley, half the raptors team miss games for their teams and we’ll still lose...

It’s almost as if portland is missing two starters and a rotation player themselves.

I'm not saying they should definitely win because of it but he is one of the few guards in the league who can lock someone down one on one on the perimeter.

    Little is starting again!

He basically has two more games to prove he deserves minutes because if he struggles in either he'll be out of the rotation once Melo arrives. No pressure young fella!

Is it just me or does it seem like we always play teams that seem to have a key player out?
