Is he wrong? I mean i read a few things that were in tune with that. I know i thought the team would be better. Was hoping Bazemore would be a bit more solid. Most however know why Olshey made those moves but here we are in a thread accusing Olshey of being in "Full Panic Mode". Which i am sure he is not but all the same.
c'mon...people like to use hyperbole, especially on an internet sports forum. It's kind of ridiculous that others are always dissecting and splitting the hairs of the hyperbole. Not everything said around here is literal, and not all nits have to be picked. Sometimes, it's better to let somebody vent without having to go all Matlock and push back on every little exaggeration they use. I don't believe the OP actually believes Olshey is in a panic, but signing Melo at the point he was signed wasn't the move of a GM in a good spot, either I mean for chrissakes...read the OP..."suicide watch"....? does anybody really think that was serious? and KJ, I'm not really meaning to single you out because a lot of people get carried away around here in arguing nearly meaningless points into the ground, myself included.
I disagree....people have been spouting about Neil since he arrived mostly because he uses hair gel and wears expensive suits and says "look" a lot but he's actually a gym rat who spends more time in the practices than probably most GMs in the league....I think he came here with the stigma that he's still a Hollywood soap opera hack actor...he's actually a sports nut who lives in that world daily. Dame has praised his accessibility with the team and said it's rare in the league....if Jerry West wanted the job, sure.....best GM in the league but one issue...Jerry West doesn't want the job
appropriate optimism sure....incessant good-ship-lollypop-sunshine-pumping-see-no-evil-overreactive-immediate-same-sound-bite-push-back against any criticism....boring and definitely habitual I kind of had fun with that one but I'll admit I lost track of where I was
just what is your problem with the good ship lollypop anyway? I've seen Raymond Felton as a starting Blazer pt guard....I know evil when I see it...criticism should be constructive...I'll have those conversations but it's way beyond that this season here. I think a healthy perspective is a better experience to enjoy the team, win or lose.....I've cheered for decades ..win or lose and I've criticized plenty of players over those decades...sorry if my having fun irritates pessimists and critics but it's how I roll..if we weren't struggling Nas would be playing for the Austin Toros tonight.....as it is he's learning how to guard Lebron James instead....developing the bench is what we got right now..I can enjoy watching him grow into an NBA rotation player...we've won one chip in 50 years....I still keep cheering
My wife agrees with you but I don't. Neil has had the misfortune of a ton of injuries all hitting our key personnel. Losing Gasol was bad enough but losing Nurkic, Whiteside, Lillard, Collins and Hood is more than any team can handle even for short stretches. Wait 'till some of these guys start getting healthy and let's see how we do.
Right now Bazemore sucks but I've got my fingers crossed that all those people who have touted him will some how eventually prove right.
He's surely a better shooter than I expected...he's been money at the free throw line and with the midrange jumper so far...he's still lacking chemistry with the starters for where to be and hasn't built a second nature pick and roll move yet...doesn't set great screens and doesn't get his arms up on defense often enough but hopefully Pau will help him from the sidelines a bit...I still think he's going to be on another team by the playoffs though
Plumlee for Nurk? Well, we definitely disagree on this one....if this is dumpster diving..I want some more of that
I'm not saying he's wrong but I'm not saying he's right. I'm just sick of people self-righteously calling out the entire forum literally every single day. Self-righteousness is a bit of a pet peeve for me.
For the record: I think what Olshey did this off-season was good considering the situation he was in. I have no complaints with his off-season other than letting Layman walk for nothing and not signing better minimum contract players than Tolliver and Hezonja. But those moves were supposed to be on the fringes anyway, so it wasn't a huge deal to me. And I was one of the biggest Olshey critics a year ago.
Actually you kind of just agreed with the meaning of my post. I just said “Is he wrong?”. Don’t worry about me. I get it. Heck I made the meltdown thread!
I don't like that either, but I think I'm a bit more understanding of the frustration behind it... At least enough to not act like I'm better than it because I post out of frustration too. I'll give you credit: that's something I rarely see you do. I just think that calling out the forum every single day just adds to the negativity.
