That's a pretty vague way to say something that most people would misinterpet. When people get banned from a website they usually mean permanently. Most would say suspended for a month, not banned even if you can technically use the word that way.

So I have a question for the admins of this site.
    So @SlyPokerDog @Denny Crane
The rest of the admins need not respond as I have little to no interest in reading what they have to say.
I've made this clear to Sly the last time we met in person. He does very well not wielding his powers with emotion. The rest of the crew doesn't.
(tbf doesn't count as that crew because I don't visit this site as often due to life. Meaning I've had very few interactions with him)
    Anyway.

iirc sabons or whatever the exact spelling was... He got banned after posting a slur about the former Ducks coach who got fired.(maybe it wasn't the former Ducks coach? but it was some college football coach)
Now personally I would've booted him instantly without the need to say 'don't do it again'.
But he was warned, his post edited and iirc about 8 hours later after there was a huge fit thrown(rightfully so because I was personally thinking wtf are the admins doing not instantly banning instead choosing to give a warning) by a certain member of this forum. This sabonis guy did it again. Twice iirc.
    He was then banned.

    So onto my question.
Are you able to explain why exactly the official site of the portland trail blazers are giving out warnings for people who clearly break the ToS?
Now it's been quite awhile since I've even skimmed the ToS as my account has been around quite a while.
But I can only assume that if someone breaks the ToS and uses a slur that would be considered a bannable offense and no warning needed. Regardless of context.
Why don't you just ban people for breaking the ToS and move on? You're not paid to do this job, you volunteer.
The only thing not banning people who use slurs/post offensive jokes allows is confusion. Which leads to drama because then you have people(who in your own words) get very good at attacking the post. Not the poster.
I get it being all inclusive is a good thing. If all people were like that irl, the world would have less hate. But if someone spews hate the only way to stop it is to treat it like a virus and give it no platform to fester.

@SlyPokerDog long ago when you found out what my eventual(completed now) PHD was going to be in. You made a joke in a dm to me 'you'd make a great moderator'. I laughed, because I never thought so, nor do I think so now.
At the end of the day, I guess I don't understand why when someone breaks the ToS they get a warning. Instead of at the very least a temp ban.

@julius the internet is far from anonymous. You're attached to the words you type down through your account.
I've had members of this site enroll their child in a program I'm attached to irl.(as well as continue to enroll their child in said programs.)
The internet isn't anonymous anymore than phone calls are.

The only point that I was trying to make last night was that IMO these personal things between posters should, for the most part, be handled in private. I'm not sure how that meant I was a phony or defending Lanny.
I don't know what posts I liked or didn't like, or whatever but honestly if it was up to me less of this would be on here and more of it would be through PM's. I have a lot of respect for the work and thought Sly puts into this site, so this isn't meant to disagree with how he's handled it. He can handle things however he thinks is right.

I understand why people are frustrated, I understand that the joke Lanny posted was inappropriate. I understand why Bodyman or OB and others may be upset that somethings that happened (allegedly I'm not calling anyone a liar I don't know all the facts), were thrown out here and can harm their reputation and all that.

I feel like we should all be able to agree on a few things, Racist slurs and the like do not belong here, I have somewhat of a difference of opinion on if context matters but alas I would rather we all just didn't say things like that. We should be able to agree that when things from an online forum like this that is intended to be a place for sports fans to come together, go beyond our fandom and start becoming real-life things, that have real-life consequences that we need to raise our level of respect for one another up a notch. No one wants to feel like their job, family, friends, reputation all that could be negatively affected by posts here.

Like almost all things though this is a two-way street. Respect other people (or at least for the sake of keeping things civil keep your disrespect to yourself), quit calling out mods and posters and whomever you disagree with and trying to start fights. It's ok to have conversations, but at some point, it's time to move on, too often arguments in here go from thread to thread for days, people get irritated at each other start calling each other names, start using passive-aggressive language to "insult (but not really)" each other.

I don't know where we go from here, except maybe theirs wisdom in people taking a chance to take a deep breath, collect your thoughts, determine what battles you're actually willing to have and if there are really personnel things contact mods about it. For the record everyone is a little biased, it's only human natural (thank you, Kevin Malone).

Sorry, but when I get a dm from a mod asking. 'wtf are you talking about'.
That comes across as quite emotional.
People need to choose their words carefully. Even more so when you've been given a position of power.
    This wasn't you.

At the end of the day Sly over the years has only got grumpy once. And really I believe that one time was completely justified as someone attacked his grandson.
Sly has years of attempting to build a culture on this site. He's done quite well in some areas, and not so well in others. But one thing that can never be questioned about Sly is his ability to take a neutral stance.
I can't say the same for the rest of you, I'm sorry.

Even joking about trying to get someone fired is fucked up. Making then think that? Really fucked up. That's my opinion.

I may have erased the private message from Bodyman probably because I didn't want to believe that it's true but I'll look. Personally, I wanted to put that all behind because I've always liked Bodyman and didn't want to accept his hatred of me. I guess I was hopelessly hoping that it would all go away. It pains me to relive it.
I've addressed the issue of my example of a racist joke in old Oswego and apologized for it over and over. If you know me, and I know that you do, you'll know that it's something I'll never do again!

Prune, let me be clear because of all the false accusations i will make this clear as day.

no one made a joke to get anyone fired. No one thought of a joke to look like they were getting someone fired.
The joke was going to be to quote a bunch of rude posts from hcp and say we sent them to blazers brass. How they take it is not our issue.

now, if this joke looks like trying to joke Bout someone getting them fired, how would that be?

hcp made the posts. They are there for anyone to read. Simply making the blazers aware of them is not getting him fired is it? or trying is it?

i mean if he is so cool and means no harm, then what, in his posts, would get him fired? Nothing right? So the joke would be invalid from the start. Unless he is behaving in a way that is not cool Nd they would frown upon. If that is the case, then wtf is his issue????

if there is something in his posts that would get him fired, wouldn't that be on him for making those posts???

Im so sick of this hcp is a golden child shit.

If he is so cool Nd perfect, then alerting the blazers to his posts would only make him look even better right?

so we cNt joke Bout playing a prank like this because why? Because hcp is innocent and doesnt deserve it?

    gtfo with that bs.

    you so what you reep.

he joked about killing someone. Joking Bout getting someone fired is worse?

whoever thinks that has their priorities all whacked and oozes with bias favoritism. sorry man. I have mad respect for you prune, but you are off base on this.

Keep on trying, success is right around the corner.
Of course I'm going to tell Sly all about your little maneuver. (I hope I didn't say this out loud. I've got enough trouble in here.)
