The site needs more totals columns.

On the line called "Low Seed Sweeps," add 15, 13, 6, and 2.

100% agree with you. There are a bunch of people in this thread who think the coach is a way bigger issue than the roster.

So when there are injuries Stotts can just take a vacation the rest of the year and not worry about anything because it doesn't matter? I don't get the line of thinking that he should be given a pass. With the injuries it's even more important that the coaching is top notch.

Stotts just lost us that game.

May have lost the team too.

No no no. I identify momentum shifts as it happens and so do other people in game threads. Not only is it obvious when our players are disengaged\making transparent plays\tired etc while the other team looks focused. It's also quantified by numbers, you literally see the other team goes 4-0-->6-0-->12-2-->16-2 while our guys are taking turns on offense before Terry takes a time out.

    60smallF1.2.jpg

Playing Lillard (or LMA back then) for the entirety of the 1st quarter EVERY NIGHT is stupid, insisting on Tolliver and Mario is silly, pulling out players when they're hot is weird.

I don't need to "dig deeper" and look for numbers, i just don't like his stubbornness on things that don't work and look bad.

It really boils down to our team having shit ball movement and an iso-centric offense that is either feast or famine. That's on the coach. We have consistently been one of the worst passing teams in the league for several years.

    So either:

    1. Dame and CJ don't give a fuck what Stotts says and ignore the offense.

    2. Stotts is a pushover and lets Dame and CJ do whatever they want and that's the offense.

    3. Our offense is iso-centric and has a major flaw.

The way I see it, in almost any NBA game, except the occasional blowout, there’s about a maximum of a ten percent difference between winning and losing. There are lots of variables that impact which way that ten percent difference in score swings, but I would say by far the biggest factor is the talent of the players available to play. Sure, coaching makes a difference, but at this level they all know their Xs and Os. Top coaches consistently get more out of their players, but they are capped by the maximum level of the talent that they have available. Pop hasn’t forgotten how to coach this year; his talent level is worse and the competition is better. The Blazers have a second unit that struggles to score 20 points. That’s a far more significant factor than who’s calling the plays and managing practices. There’s also the certainty that top coaches only choose to sign up to coach teams where they think they can win. Right now, that ain’t Portland. Even assuming that Stotts isn’t the right guy for a championship run, this isn’t the time to change horses.

I scanned last nights thread and didn't see any posts where you pointed out a momentum shift until after a had happened. Can you show me where those posts are? If not this game, any game would work. If you have a nice data set of the predictions and outcomes, I will gladly give you praise, then I'll pay you way to Vegas to help me take some of their money!

11th in the league in offense rating with three starters missing is bad? Not sure why people continue to think there is any correlation between passing/assists and offensive efficiency when the data says other wise.

Mike Richman said in a pod some weeks ago that Terry has told him he likes to play his players strengt's , and thats why they play so much iso. So yeah it is Stotts because he allows the players to do whatever they want to do

Well i have heard Stotts and his coaching staff emphasizing ball movement so either you are mischaracterizing what Richman said or Richman is mischacterizing what Stotts said. Did Richman say Stotts said what you posted about iso ball?

Go look at our record against winning teams this year. It's absolutely abysmal.
