And I was aware of that at the time. He had a mandate from ownership and he did what they wanted.

And I wanted to hire him as our coach.

*Edit* Not that I wanted Stotts fired at the time or blame the Blazers for not hiring Kerr. I just expected Kerr to be an excellent coach and wished we could have hired him once I knew he was available.

Yeah. I'm not usually in this boat, but I'm all in on tanking at this point. Looks like we may end up losing Skal as well.

Next time Dame gets nicked up and comes in for treatment get the trainers to tell him he's risking injury by playing and that he needs physical therapy for 6 months.

So much this! And from a coach no one knew about or would have named from the 'there is no one better out there' crowd.

Purely anecdotal, but having never run anything more than mad practice in basketball day aftere day, decided to enter a 10K because my roommate asked me too. Was leading everyone in the entire race at the halfway mark. This story does not end well....

....they had to peel me off the pavement at the finish line from being 'plastered' and I think amputees were passing me by the 6 mile mark.

Maybe because the bench scored 9 points? Just a thought?

Even Damian Lillard himself would disagree with you but keep on keeping on.

Of course he would disagree. But to be fair, he thinks Stotts is a great coach and Meyers was a great Draft pick.

    I agree to a point.
My opinion is players on teams win games. The whole team wins and loses.

    I like Stotts. Always have.
    But....
It feels like the offense has no actual set plays. They run "sets and read".
No wonder players love him so much.
If my boss said I have to be at work 9-5, but could do whatever I felt like doing, I would love my boss too.
But what is starting to concern me is what feels like a lack of discipline and accountability.
Shot selection, time and score awareness, defensive communication all seem to be on the decline.
Maybe it's just a bad year.

Not sure i have heard his opinion on Meyers as a draft pick in the last 4-5 years? But i'm certain he never said "Great" as a way to describe it. As i remember he was always supportive of Meyers as he should have been. Might have said he was a great shooter? Something like that?
I could be wrong on this? Have you got a link?

It's pretty obvious. Multiple different lineups and lack of cohesiveness has taken it's toll. That and the very nature of what they try to do. Defense takes players knowing what to expect from each other. Flex/Flow offense takes players trusting and knowing where they will be. They need some players back and they need to make a few more tweaks to the lineup. At least that is my take.

Gotta admit I'm a little surprised nobody is blaming Stotts for Skal's injury.
I mean, if Stotts hadn't started him, he wouldn't have been playing when he got hurt....
    Duh.

Yeah. Should have been saving him on a bad season anyway. Why take a chance and get him injured. If Stotts was smart he would be doing it with 1M also.

Denver trapped Dame and he had a shit series. We barely barely barely won that series against a team that simply wasn't ready to compete. And Stotts tried his hardest to lose that series.

I have literally been saying that the entire thread. They went 7 games against a shit Spurs team. They were young and inexperienced.

But hey, don't actually refute my claim, just make snide remarks. That makes you look suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuper smart.

Look if you think a team that played an entire season and a seven game series and was in the second round was not ready then I can’t argue your opinion. But please don’t call it anything more than that. An Opinion. I can respect that.

You think that's the first time a team has done really well in the regular season and then showed their inexperience in the playoffs? No, I don't think they were ready. And I think it took Stotts way too fucking long to figure out that he needed to play Collins and Hood more to take advantage of the Nuggets. It almost lost us the series.
