Are Barrett and Reddish the most inefficient pair of rookies ever? Barrett: 31.0% 3PT, 39.3% FG, 57.2% FT Reddish: 26.4% 3PT, 31.9% FG, 78.5% FT but attempting just 2 per game
a 750 minute cut-off is a lot of minutes at this point in the year....that's more than 20 minutes a game. That would then not show a lot of players that have missed several games for one reason or the other....like Melo for instance, look at 2ptFG% ranking for Portland: Anthony Tolliver .333 Kent Bazemore .362 Gary Trent .382 (would rank 5th on that list) Mario Hezonja .429 (would rank 13th on that list) Carmelo Anthony .444 (would rank 21st on that list) Anfernee Simons .477 (he's on the list at 46) (and yeah, I know if you lowered the minute floor to include other Blazers, everything changes) Bazemore sucks at this, in no small part because he's been crappy at the rim. different system could be a reason. His career mark is 45.7%; last season he was at 46.4%. That drop to 36.2% is crazy, and it shows he hasn't found a fit in this offense (such as it is), and likely won't
yep...and compare that list above to last season: Jake Layman .646 Meyers Leonard .626 Maurice Harkless .582 Al-Farouq Aminu .514 Nik Stauskas .510 Evan Turner .494 Seth Curry .463 I mean, Stauskas had a better 2ptFG% than all but 4 of the current Blazers, and one of the 4 is Hood. With him out, Aminu would rank 4th on the current team
Not surprising at all. I keep thinking that I've never seen someone so bad at just making simple shots in the NBA. Layups, super short jumpers, he's just absolutely terrible at finishing.
Here's a crazy idea: is it possible that the bad shooting % are somehow linked to the offense not producing good shots?
Especially when you look at his numbers historically. His FGA distribution is nearly identical to the rest of his career, but the drastic drop has been his efficiency around the rim (0-3 ft).
My guess is he's getting less transition opportunities (Which are mostly gimmies) and probably less backdoor cuts, shots off movement. Most of his shots at the rim this season seem to come from him creating his own shot. He's not actually bad at getting there, he's just awful at finishing contested shots.
Which players shoot a lot of 2s to get a lot of 3s and make them? Which players are age 20 or less, and which are age 30 or more? Here's the database sorted the same way, but displaying 2PA/36min, 3PA/36min, and 3P% for the reader to manually compare. http://bkref.com/tiny/PmvgL
Other coaches' systems got Bazemore fouled. His FTA/36min is by far his career lowest. http://bkref.com/pi/shareit/P35gL
