Wouldn't Nassir Little be a better prospect than Valentine as a back up small forward as well as Gary Trent jr? It seems we have plenty of prospects similar to Valentine already.

Neither are ball handlers that can run an offense/pick and roll. Valentine would in theory replace Simons.

I really like Kevin O'Connor & his thoughts. Reading through his article, does it make sense to target AG?

It sounds like Magic fans are ready to dump him... How about something like this if the price were cheap:

Gordan + Birch -> Whiteside + Cash (to cover Magic tax) + cut Caleb or Mario
    Rights to Chuma -> 2020 1st

    c'mon man...

    last 3 seasons:

    PER: CJ 17.0 - 17.0 - 17.0.....Beal 18.4 - 20.8 - 22.3
    TS%: CJ .536 - .553 - .542.....Beal .564 - .581 - .572
    FT Rate CJ .166 - .154 - .122.....Beal .249 - .278 - .355
    Assist rate: CJ 15.8 - 13.8 - 17.2.....Beal 21.0 - 24.1 - 29.4
    BPM: CJ 0.4 - 0.3 - (-0.3).....Beal 1.7 - 2.8 - 1.6

sometimes, the grass is actually greener and Beal is a better player than CJ

that said, I probably wouldn't do that trade (with the 1st) because unless the Blazers are getting a player close to the caliber of Dame, I'd want some cap-relief to be a part of any CJ trade

It’ll be interesting to see how Orlando values Gordon. It seems almost a given he’ll be traded at some point. He wasn’t drafted by the current regime, but I’d think they’d still want more for him than an expiring. Who knows though, I thought the Wizards would get a first for Oubre and Gordon is overpaid.

So you are ready to bale on Simons already? Sure he has struggled and i would trade him for a long term solution for a starting small forward. I would also prefer a low cost alternattive as a back up pg. Valentine doesn't really fit that need.and we have more pressing needs than a player like Valentine.

Beals numbers would likely drop to McCollums numbers or worse playing with Lillard as Beal is the player Wizards play through compared to McCollum who is secondary with the Blazers. Two different roles. I imagine Beals numbers would drop if Wall was playing.

If we're going to go the cheap route (a la Hood last year):

I wouldn't mind taking a flier on Denzel Valentine.

I've been saying this all year but Jonah Bolden is a guy I'd take a chance on. He has only played 14 minutes this entire season. I bet we could get him for free using the Swanigan TPE and the rights to a foreign player that will never play in the NBA or cash. He has a non guaranteed contract the next two seasons too so if we needed the roster spot he'd be easy to waive.

On that same Philly team Zhaire Smith has only played 13 minutes this season. Obviously he and Bolden are risks based on possibly not getting minutes because they suck but these are the type of cheap acquisitions that may just need a change of scenery or out of Brett Brown's doghouse. He still has two years left after this one on his rookie deal.

Valentine is 6.4, so he has the same Size as Bazemore. We need length and size

He’s closer to 6’6 than 6’4, unless he’s playing without shoes.

the only number that might drop is his assist rate

but without Wall, Beal is the prime focus of opposing defenses, so then, that he has better efficiency and production than CJ while facing more resistance is significant.

Beal is simply a better player than CJ; a little more dynamic. The gap between them isn't huge but it's there

Unless he is wearing lifts he is likely closer to 6'5" and only has a 32.5" vertical jump. Little has a 38.5" vertical and is an explosive jumper off 2 feeet.

Do we really need more players based on potential? We need some proven talent as we have Little, Simons, Trent, Skal and Gabriel as potential type players.

and Collins too. I still look at him as developing and still a ways to go because of this years injury.

I hate it when I agree with you...but I completely agree with you. If we're going "the cheap route, a la Hood", we absolutely should be looking for players who've already demonstrated the ability to be effective at the NBA level.

that would’ve only been interesting in a Whiteside deal. Don’t know how we would get him now. I wouldn’t give up Ariza for example.
